We’ve seen the operating system appear on Amazon.com and we’ve even seen it reportedly shipped with a Mac mini, but what we haven’t seem is an official Mac OS X Snow Leopard page on Apple’s website, until now, that is.
Apple has recently been kind enough to launch Snow Leopard’s official webpage showing off all of the features to be included with the update. Furthermore, Apple has put the operating system up for pre-order at $29.99 with a delivery date of August 28th.
While you might as well go ahead and pre-order the software if you already plan on buying it, I don’t see Apple running out of copies so there is really no rush.

When Google released their Chrome web browser, it took the world by surprise but seemed like the logical next step for the mega company. Well, it looks like they are expanding past a web browser and even past their mobile Android OS with the introduction of Google Chrome OS.
This will be a full fledged open source operating system built from the ground up. Its focus will be on speed, security and simplicity much like the Google Chrome web browser and Android OS.
Google says that they are working on making netbooks running Google Chrome OS for availability sometime in 2010. Your move Apple and Microsoft.

The world definitely has no shortage of netbooks with the majority of them running different versions of Windows or Linux. Android, however, has been shown to be very capable of holding its own when booted up on a netbook.
Nokia seems to think that the operating system is reading for primetime as analyst Daniel Amir from Lazard Capital Markets was quoted to have said the folowing:
In our conversations with ODMs, we have confirmed that Nokia is planning to enter the netbook market with a Google Android, ARM-based netbook that would be sold at carriers. Considering this market is dominated by the PC players, we believe Nokia could face an uphill battle to succeed in this market.
Take this with a grain of salt, even though Mr. Amir claims its cofirmed, until we hear official word from Nokia.

Jeeze, what don’t pirates get their hands on now a days? This time they have set their sights on Microsoft’s latest operating system Windows 7 with a near release build, build 7229.
Now you may be wondering, what is the difference between this and the freely distrubuted RC1 version of Windows 7. Well, this is apparantly a post-release candidate which means its a bit closer to the version we will be seeing when Windows 7 actually hits retailers later this year.
Should you care? Probably not but if you do head over to your favorite bittorrent site and do a search for Windows 7 build 7229. Of course, we don’t condone this and you should do it at your own risk.

It is not really surprising to note that the iPhone is one of the most used mobile gadgets in the world today. Aside from being the most popular phone preferred by consumers today, selling over 17 million phones (as reported last week) seemingly justifies this claim.
The iPhone now accounts for 50 percent of mobile Web traffic from smartphones in the U.S., according to an AdMob Mobile Metrics report released this morning. Over the past six months, the iPhone has taken share from Blackberry and Windows Mobile. In August 2008, the iPhone made up only 10 percent of mobile Web traffic from smartphones. During the same time, Blackberry’s share has gone from 32 percent to 21 percent (with the Curve and the Pearl coming in stronger than the Storm), while Windows Mobile has taken an even bigger hit, declining from 30 percent to 13 percent. Palm is also down to 7 percent from 19 percent six months ago.
The only other smartphone operating system that is showing gains in mobile Web usage is Android, which has captured a strong 5 percent share just three months after launch. And that is up from 3 percent in January. The gains shown by the iPhone and Android show what is possible when phones are built with fully capable browsers and support a rich array of Web apps.

Apple will be unveiling a new operating for the iPhone called the iPhone OS 3.0. Possible new developments could include MMS support, enabling the iPhone to send and receive picture messages, and cut and paste functionality.
Another possibility is improved background functionality, allowing the iPhone to run multiple applications at the same time and provide instant notifications when sites such as Facebook have been updated. The company may also let the iPhone work as a mobile broadband modem for a PC or laptop - known as ‘tethering’.
The company is also expected to release details of a new software development kit (SDK) for its Apps Store – an innovation that was introduced in iPhone OS 2.0.
