Let us go a bit retro, recalling the ancient time of rotary dialed phones. Apparently these old phones now have another use, modified to accommodate iPods and hence come up with the RotariPhone iPod Dock. The iPod is docked on where the handset is usually placed. Tilt it upwards and then place you iPod or iPhone and then play the tunes you want to hear. The speakers are the hearing and mouth piece, an ingenious design that should put some difference on the iPod docks available in the market today.

As the world continues to find ways to properly dispose of used up and non-functioning gadgets like mobile phones today, ecoATM has revealed a neat device that can do it all in an automated fashion. Carrying the same technology we see in ATM banking, the Automatec eCycling Stations provide an easier way to dispose of old phones and getting paid on the spot.
All you have to do is insert your device, wait for the machine to value it and then you get the money. It is as simple as that. But you have to wonder about the procedure like the appreciation of the phone and see if you can really get the competitive value for it. Other than that, you may find this ecoATM systems next quarter in places like San Diego, Boston, Dallas and Seattle. Let’s see how it goes.

The setup may be something familiar but the bottom-line is hitting two birds with one stone. With the rampant replacement of old phones in lieu of the new ones, CollectAPhone’s efforts may yet offer some light to the growing problem of e-waste. And you can be part of that by cleaning up your closet with your old phone which is normally left out somewhere to rot.
Old phones are practically worthless unless you can get some salvage value for them. But as far as re-selling them, you know that you will not get a fair amount. So with that in mind, why not do something useful such as recycle them and help out some poor soul through CollectAPhone?
Such is the intent of CollectAPhone. They are doing you a favor and in turn they will donate cash to non-profit organizations for each phone collected. The type of phone does not matter. It is simply an act of goodwill to help bring down the growing problem of landfills and lend a helping hand as well to a worthy cause.
“We have made it our responsibility,” said Mendel Mendelovits, Founder of CollectAPhone, ”to ensure that these phones do not end up damaging our planet. Our goal is to save 1,000,000 phones this year.”

This Mothers Day, most of you may be considering to buy your mom a new mobile phone. And should that happen, you are thinking of what to do with the old one that is sure to be stocked out somewhere. Well, just in case you don’t have use for it, why not do a good deed like dropping it in a HopeLine collection bin located in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores nationwide.
Proceeds generated from the phones collected by HopeLine are used to provide wireless phones to survivors of domestic violence or cash grants to local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness.
One out of three American women report being abused at some point in their lifetime, and more than 10 million U.S. children witness domestic violence each year. Phones donated to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program can help victims of abuse feel safer and less isolated by giving them a way to call emergency or support services, employers, family and friends.
If you plan to buy Mom’s gifts online this year, you can still donate your phone to HopeLine. When surfing, print a postage-paid label from the Verizon Wireless Web site at www.verizonwireless.com/hopelinemailinglabel, adhere it to the package that contains your old wireless phones and mail it to HopeLine.
