  • Today, people have not completely enjoyed touch-screen technology but RIM is moving ahead. If all goes well with their patent, we may soon see a more sensitive touch-screen interface made of two screens, one a sensitive screen and the next a lesser one, similar to the ones we use in notebooks if you don’t like clicking through the buttons.

One click on the upper layer touch screen would be as the initial selection process while the harder layer would confirm the selection. The new hybrid touchscreen technology is of course going to cost higher as dual touchscreen technology is definitely going to need advanced materials and programming.

But as we have seen, price seems to be nothing for people who want hi-tech devices and gadgets coming out in the market. RIM is no stranger to devices and technology and if this patent does get approved, you can bet that they will once again hog the limelight.

Ever since the netbook craze started, companies, Asus and Acer especially, have been pumping out new models at an alarming rate.

Well, it seems that the duo is finally taking a break as reports have emerged that the two companies will put a hold on any new netbook models until 2010. This delay is apparantly due to Intel waiting until early 2010 to debut their Pine Trail-M platform.

For now, Asus and Acer will reportedly focus on producing ultra-thin laptops for the rest of 2009.

Today it is made only for notebooks. But sometime soon, it will likewise be available for mobile phones. This is of course the use of Bluetooth headsets, something that we see common for people who want some fashion and class when it comes to communicating in style.

Of course we all know that laptops are now used for communication as well and with the addition of this new ultra-thin Bluetooth headset called the MoGo Talk, you have to wonder when mobile phones would be made compatible. Bluetooth headsets make it easier in receiving calls for people who use them and apparently with its lighter make, techies are going to want this for their own.

But for the meantime, Skype and VoIP users take first crack. The MoGo Talk from Newton Peripherals is available at their store for $99.99.

  • Laptop and notebook users can say goodbye to the usual plug or recharge batteries one at a time concept. Thanks to Datamation Systems, a new multi-bay battery charger can now re-charge 16 laptop batteries at a time. Batteries used for laptops and tablets no longer have to worry about recharging issues. Apple Considering Background Tasks

If there is one weakness that the iPhone has right now, it has to be the ability to allow other processes to run in the background. Understandably, the iPhone is not expected to perform in the same way that PCs and notebooks can, allowing other processes to run while the main app is on the foreground. However, Apple seems to be seriously considering this option to push through.

One would think that if this were to happen, a lot of things may have to be considered. One is the ability of the iPhone to handle such processes and perhaps upgrading or replacing some chips or parts to provide more support to the default apps.

Earlier today, Dan Frommer of Silicon Alley Insider cited sources in the mobile industry saying that Apple was serious about allowing background applications. John Gruber of Daring Fireball backed this up , saying he heard something similar from a decent source a few months ago. I’ve just spoken with a trusted source who confirmed the news as well.

  • LG has decided to concentrate its efforts on touchscreen and QWERTY mobile phones instead of laptops this year. The South Korean manufacturer seems more interested in the handset business considering the low demand for laptops. Would you rather buy a touch-friendly smartphone instead of a new laptop from LG? Or would you simply choose other laptops instead of those made by LG? LG is the third largest cell-phone supplier so this move is rather logical. By the end of the year LG is said to introduce more phones in order to complete its previous declared goal.
