    The expensive Bentley laptop

Most people that have a Bentley can afford this exclusive laptop, but it wouldn’t make much sense to buy one because for the price of it, you can buy 4 or 5 really good notebooks. In the end it is the customer’s choice: Brand and style over functionality? Or performance over a fashion accessory?

In the inside of the Bentley laptop which is made by Ego Lifestyle there aren’t many top-notch features, it has a rather small 12.1-inch screen, a hard-drive with 160GB of storage capacity, and a glossy look. To make it run there are 2GB of memory RAM, and an unknown AMD 64 chipset.

How much would you pay for a laptop with these details? $20,000? I don’t think so…

  • eMachines already had some good computers, like the EL1200 Slim Tower, or the T5226 Desktop, but from a laptop point of view there is a new product codenamed eMD620-5777.

The latest 14.1-inch laptop from eMachines sports an AMD Athlon 2650e processor running at 1.6GHz, and 1GB of memory RAM plus 160GB on the hard-drive. One of the most important details of this notebook is the price, it can be considered cheap because it only costs $430.

The ATI Radeon x1200 is in charge of the graphics department, which can support up to 1919MB of ATI HyperMemory. The usual specs on laptops, like Wi-Fi, and a SuperMulti DVD-R/RW drive are also part of the deal.

  • Is Psystar trying to get free publicity out of the the whole Apple trial situation? The company has launched a new Mac clone desktop equipped with a Blu-ray and a new NVIDIA GPU. Leaving the fact that Blu-rays and Mac OS don’t quite mix that easily yet aside, Psystar seems unstoppable. No matter what Apple’s lawyers have said so far the company is going forward with its product.

An open notebook is apparently being created by Psystar. Psystar has confirmed it so you can expect to see one soon. I wonder how much the Mac clone notebook will cost. And where will such a notebook be actually built?

    Toshiba introduces Protégé A605

Back in June, Toshiba unveiled the first laptop with a 128G solid-state drive which is called R500-S5007V. More recently, a couple of days ago, another unit was added to the Protégé line, the A605 that costs close to $1,400.

In terms of performance, the 12-inch A605 sports an Intel Centrino 2 Duo processor, the SU9300 to be more specific. It has 3GB of RAM memory, a Serial ATA hard-drive with 250GB, and a Mobile Intel graphics 11 Media Accelerator. Sadly it has Windows Vista as the operative system,

Other features included on Toshiba Protégé A605:

    - DVD SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) with Labelflash(TM) drive
    - Built-in webcam and microphone (more…)

  • MSI VR630 Notebook for Europe

MSI has a special unit made for the European market, the VR630 laptop. Strangely enough, it has an uncommon 16-inch screen which obviously makes its resolution unpopular - 1366×768 pixels - but the good part is certainly the 16:9 aspect ratio for movies and games.

In terms of processors, there are 2 choices: either an AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core, or a Sempron CPU. In both cases the RAM memory can go up to 4GB, but default is most likely 2GB. The graphics processor is powered by a GeForce 8200M G, and there are 3 options for the hard-drive: 160GB, 250GB, or 320GB.

An interesting application included on the VR630 is the ECO power management, which saves battery life depending on the mode that the user picked: Gaming, Movie, Office, or others.

    Toshiba Tecra R10 Laptop

Toshiba is aiming their sites at executives with the launch of the new Tecra R10 laptop. The R10 is a perfect blend between quality, durability and portability. The Tecra R10 has a 14.1in, 1680 x 1050 (WXGA+) display with the option of either a 320GB HDD or 128GB SSD. Toshiba’s put an as-yet-unspecified Intel Core 2 Duo processor under the machine’s hood and equipped it with up to 8GB of memory.

Same with the newly launched Proteges, Toshiba also incorporated a 3G feature in its latest Tecra, so you’ll be able to connect from the back of your chauffeured Lexus at speeds of up to 7.2Mb/s. Wi-Fi’s also under the hood. Short-range data transfers are possible over Bluetooth 2.1, and Toshiba’s also fitted an SD memory card slot into one side of the R10.

Toshiba’s keeping mum about the machine’s cost for the UK, but has said that it will hit Europe sometime later this year.

  • Everun Note Notebook Gets Upgrades

Everun Note from Raon Digital is a notebook I haven’t paid enough attention to. And it looks like the model will get some important upgrades like a new hard drive option and a cheaper price. Everun Note used to cost $879 and it had a 60GB hard drive.

The new netbook versions, and we have two of those, will come with SSD storage and they will be cheaper. The D24S gets a 24GB split-capacity SSD. There’s 8GB fast SLC and 16GB standard MLC flash memory. The S16S will get a 12GB MLC SSD and it will come with Ubuntu instead of the regular XP.
Unfortunately the S16 will have a Sempron CPU running at 1.2GHz instead of the dual-core AMD Turion.

Prices? Well the S16S will sell for $659 and the D24S will sell for $950. That’s still expensive! And the prices don’t include tax! Next!

Asus has become the first company in the world to announce a Quad Core Gaming Notebook, and it is codenamed G71. The top-notch notebook has gamers as the target because almost all the recent games require a lot of resources in order to run smoothly. This is when gaming consoles step in the game, but that is another story…

The Asus G71 boasts the fresh Intel processor, also known as Core 2 Extreme QX9300, and as company in the graphics section there is a NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT with 512MB. As for the RAM memory, 4GB of DDR3 should be enough to play most games. The display screen is a 17-inch Crystal Shine with 8ms of response time, while the hard-drive hits the top at 1TB by using two hard-drives of 500GB each.

Addiotional extras include gaming hotkeys to launch your prefered games with a touch of a button, bluetooth, a blue-ray drive, and strangely enough the Overspeed Protection has been removed which means you can overclock it as needed.
