After a several-months of beta testing, Nokia has finally announced the availability of a consumer version of the much-awaited Nokia Maps 2.0. Though the core product is free, additional features such as voice-guided navigations will be available under a pay as you go plan. The 2.0 version has many major improvements over the previous 1.2 including pedestrian and drive modes enhanced by vector maps provided by Navteq (acquired by Nokia last year) and TeleAtlas. More than 200 countries are available with 70 of them navigable.
