How many times did you want to listen to music from your iPod nano or touch without actually having to use your headphones? That’s possible if you have a dock close by but what about when you’re on the go? A nice pair of ultraportable speakers would definitely come in handy. Luckily for us there’s a Korean company out that came up with a solution for this problem.

Green Power has launched two different sliding speaker models for both the iPod nano and the iPod touch. The 1.5W twin speakers offer stereo sound which is quite a nice alternative to headphones. The sliding speaker acts like a dock and it comes with an mini USB port which can be using for both charging and uploading new content your iPod. We have no details about pricing and arrival dates at this point so you’ll be left listening to music with your regular headphones while fantasizing about the dock.

  • Don’t think we missed the fact that the new iPod touch 3G doesn’t have a camera! We were shocked to see that Apple postponed adding a camera to the iPod touch 3G. Probably that’s what we’re going to see next year in the fourth-generation. What happened you ask? It’s all so confusing but Steve Jobs claims that the touch doesn’t have a camera since it’s a gaming device. It’s probably a lot harder to play all those cool games on a device that comes with a camera on board. That’s probably why the nano doesn’t have support for any games.

So here’s what Steve Jobs did say, word for word:

    Q. You put a camcorder on the iPod Nano. Why not on the iPod Touch?

    A. Originally, we weren’t exactly sure how to market the Touch. Was it an iPhone without the phone? Was it a pocket computer? What happened was, what customers told us was, they started to see it as a game machine. Because a lot of the games were free on the store. Customers started to tell us, “You don’t know what you’ve got here - it’s a great game machine, with the multitouch screen, the accelerometer, and so on.”

We started to market it that way, and it just took off. And now what we really see is it’s the lowest-cost way to the App Store, and that’s the big draw. So what we were focused on is just reducing the price to $199. We don’t need to add new stuff - we need to get the price down where everyone can afford it.

I bet my horse that next year the iPod touch 4G will have a camera. What do you think?

While our attention has been grabbed by those new iPod touch and iPod nano we shouldn’t overlook the new iPod classic or the new iPod shuffle.

The new iPod shuffle is available in 2GB and 4GB versions and it will cost you $59 and $79, respectively. There are new colors available so now you can get your iPod shuffle in pink, green or blue. Apple also has a special stainless steel 4GB Special Edition but it going to cost you $99 and you’ll have to get it from an Apple Store.

Today is Apple’s Only Rock & Roll event where they are expected to launch a new line of iPod touches and nanos. Well, it seems like the company may also be launching a new classic as they have cut the prices across the board for all iPod touch models.

The 8GB, 16GB and 32GB iPod touches have been dropped from $229, $299 and $399 to $189, $249 and $279, respectively. The classic on the other hand is now priced at $229, down from $249 and the 8GB and 16GB nano has had its price dropped from $149 and $199 to $129 and $149.

So folks, now we’ll just have to play the waiting game until the actual even begins.

If Apple resellers are to be believed, the current generation of iPods are being discounted and retailers are being urged to deplete their stock to make way for new models. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed, we’ve had tons of evidence to support the fact that Apple is gearing up to launch a line of iPod nanos and touches that feature a digital camera.

Those looking to purchase a new iPod may want to hold off until September 8th when Apple is expected to make an announcement.

  • iPod DJ Mixer

We are aware that the iPod is a great device for delivering the usual tunes of our choice. However, for the people who want to create unique mixes and extended tunes, here is a device that should come in handy. The only thing is you will need not one but two iPod (Touch or Nano) to make it work. Random MP3 players may also work and it really depends if the dock would support them.

Though not stated, the iPhone may work as well. The iPod DJ Mixer includes an AC adapter and a set of headphones. The gadget costs $120.

To tell you the truth I am just a little bit tired of all the iPhone nano rumors that appear from time to time. Apple hasn’t launched the product just yet and it hasn’t even confirmed it until today. We have no idea if the Cupertino-based company will ever make an iPhone nano but at least now we know it has a patent covering it.

As always with these things we have to keep in mind that patents are patents and that doesn’t mean that you’ll actually see in stores all the products presented in those patents.

According to the patent, it looks like the iPhone nano will offer you a traditional iPod, a camera mode and a dual-sided display. One screen uses all the space available on one side while the other one there’s also a force-sensitive touch-based surface which will be needed to control the other display. Hmm! What are your thoughts on the iPhone nano?

Don’t get too excited folks but it seems that the fifth generation iPod nano is going to be unveiled sometime in September. And while we have no official details coming from the Cupertino-based company, we stumbled upon this protective silicon case which was designed for the iPod nano 5G. As you can clearly see the case reveals the camera location of the future iPod. The case appears to have been specifically designed for the nano 5G although we can’t confirm the validity of the picture here. We should assume though that more cases and leaked pictures of the iPod nano 5G are going to appear around the web if Apple is indeed to launch a new nano so stick around for more rumors!

The Sound Jacket from Radiopaq is an accessory for your iPod nano 4G which promises to improve the sound quality of your favorite tracks. The device will apparently solve a problem you didn’t know you had, “the distortion that can sometimes result from a static EQ setting” and it will also show you that “hidden detail in the music that is lost during MP3 compression.” That way the sound quality of your nano will increase by about 60%. What do you think? Would you pay an extra $115 for the device?

I don’t know what phone is currently hotter than the Pre so this might just be a silly rumor right here. It seems that Palm is interested in launching a smaller Pre version sometime later this year. Is this Palm’s way to respond to an eventual iPhone nano threat? Or should we call it iPhone lite and expect Verizon to unveil it?

The Mini Pre might be scheduled for a third quarter release and we’re probably going to see Sprint selling it too. The phone will obviously come with webOS on board and it will probably sport Pre-like features. So far this year only Samsung has released a smaller version of one of it’s phones. The smaller Instinct is already available from Sprint so there’s no reason why other companies shouldn’t follow this trend. Would you fancy a Pre Mini?

What Is the HiPhone Nano Cloning?

The phone in the picture is the HiPhone Nano which is a weird handset meant to confuse us. What does it clone? There’s no iPhone nano despite the huge buzz created around it a while ago. Did the makers of the HiPhone Nano fall for all those articles and pictures depicting iPhone nanos?

The HiPhone Nano is a flip phone and it’s being sold in China for the special price of $125 instead of the regular $400 price. It has a 2.4-inch screen, dual-SIM card support, camera and Bluetooth connectivity. Nothing that’s worth $400 here. I wonder how many HiPhone Nanos will they sell.

We have a new cool microphone for your iPod. It’s the ThumbTack microphone from SwitchEasy. The microphone is compatible with the iPod nano 4G and with the iPod touch 2G. If you want to record voice on those, a cool ThumbTack microphone will let you do it. It costs just $13 and it will work great with any third party applications. What do you think?

    MacBook Nano in the Works?

It’s just another rumor here but since we appreciate the design we can go along with it for a while. The device in the picture is a MacBook Nano which could very well be the name of Apple’s first netbook. Since rumors already point to an Apple netbook coming this year, why shouldn’t it look like that? So is that an OLED touchscreen coming from LG? How much would you pay for it?

Griffin iTrip for iPod nano 4G

Your iPod nano 4G is old enough already to receive a present for you. The Griffin iTrip made by EasyiShop will improve your music experience. The new iTrip will remind you of the previous versions but it will fit perfectly with the new nano.

What the iTrip does is to send music from your iPod to the closest FM receiver which means you will be able to enjoy better quality music when using it.

Here are the main features of the iTrip:

    • Plug iTrip in, press play, tune your radio and away you go.
    • SmartScan finds the best FM settings for you.
    • SmartSound technology delivers clear audio under real-world conditions.
    • Designed to complement 4th generation iPod nano (but is able to work with other iPod models as well).

The iTrip will be available later in March but it’s also available for pre-order for only £34.99.

The iPod nano in the picture here is the Elton John special edition. Each iPod has 250 color-coordinated Swarovski cyrstals embedded in the case. As you might have already guessed, these iPods are pretty expensive, but 12,5% of what you’ll be paying will be donated to Elton John’s AIDS Foundation. That’s $45 out of $565 for every 8GB iPod nano or $51 out of $640 for the 16GB version. Each iPod will come with Elton John’s Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits CD pre-installed.

Remember those iPhone nano shots we keep seeing here and there? What about those rumored Apple netbooks? Well none of them are coming from Apple. At least not anytime soon! Apple is not interested in manufacturing either of them and it said so during its fiscal report yesterday.

    Tim Cook said:

We are now in over 70 countries with the iPhone and you’re correct, some of them are non-subsidized markets. Examples are, the largest is in terms of size of the market, our sales are clearly materially less in those markets than they are in the subsidized markets with contracts. We are constantly evaluating the best way to play in these markets. We know there’s a huge opportunity here, and we will make adjustments in the future there to play in a better way.

And the iPhone nano is not a viable option as Apple doesn’t want to be the leader in the phone industry but they want to have the best phone. Well I guess the best phone place is taken for now.

Mac netbooks then? Not coming anytime soon from Apple. Tim Cook said:

We’re watching that space, but right now from our point of view, the products in there are principally based on hardware that’s much less powerful than we think customers want, software technology that is not good, cramped keyboards, small displays.

So they have some ideas but they’re not willing to make a netbook yet. Is this what we’re supposed to understand. I mean we’ve seen Sony create an overpriced netbook so we don’t need an Apple overpriced netbook do we?

iPhone nano to Go to China First?

The iPhone nano rumors are still out there and we get more and more versions each day. Now we hear that the small iPhone will arrive in China later this year. Maybe in spring? Or will it be launched in June too?

The Economic Daily News says that chip makers Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and United Microelectronics Corp. are going to get the contract for making chips designed for the iPhone nano. The nano could be a low-cost entry-level iPhone. Is it possible that the iPhone nano is the 3G-less and WiFi-less iPhone conceived for China?

In the mean time I bet we’ll see lots of other stories and pictures featuring the iPhone nano all over the Internet, so stick around to see what people say next.

    iPhone Nano

iPhoneRumors abound that Apple is just months away from unveiling a new iPhone Nano, a smaller version of the wildly popular (but prohibitively expensive) Apple cell phone with the unique visual customer interface and fabulous graphics capabilites. The release of an iPhone Nano would enable Apple to enter the $99-$149 price point, and would likely blow just about every other cell phone out of the water—at least for awhile.

iPod Nanos have done very well especially in the young adult market, so users are of that are already primed for a matching iPhone Nano and will scoop these up in droves once they are announced at hit the stores. While Apple will neither confirm nor deny the rumors (which have been swirling around for the past year), several manufacturers have leaked that they are already building iPhone Nano cases, giving the possibility more validity. Look for an official announcement by Apple in early March of 2009.

  • While people seem to be interested in an iPhone nano, I’d be more interested in a larger version of the iPhone, possibly an iPhone netbook. And it looks like I am not the only one.

Here’s the iPhone Pro concept. I am sure most of us will pick this one instead of a nano if both devices were actually available. It has a slide out keyboard fitted with gaming controls which would make it a decent gaming console. It also comes with at least 60GB of space, a better camera with video capability and zoom, a front camera for video calls, true 16:9 aspect and probably copy paste function too. Will we ever seen this iPhone design out there? Who knows really what Apple will do next?
