It’s finally here! If you head over to Amazon or the Nokia flagship stores in Chicago or NY, you will find the preorder sign taken down and the N86 in the flesh, ready to find its new owners.  The 8-megapixel shooter is going for $469 on Amazon while the flagship stores sell it for $499, a bit high yet less than the $558 price that was originally mentioned.  Of course, it’s up to you guys to decide if the N86 and its 2.6-inch QVGA OLED display, 3G support, WiFi, GPS, and its selling point, the 8mpx Carl Zeiss lens with dual LED flash deserves your wad of greens or if you have already decided on a better device!

  • June 19 is not only the date when the iPhone 3G S will finally be available in shops but it’s also the date when the N97 and the N86 will be available in London. Or so it would seem considering that there are reports saying that the phone will be available in London’s flagship store this Friday. What phone do you expect to sell in more units this weekend in the UK? The N86 or the new iPhone? We kinda feel bad for Nokia given the release dates it has chosen for the N97 and the N86. On the other hand Nokia doesn’t seem to have immediate plans for the worldwide release of the N86. Is it waiting for the iPhone to arrive in those other countries too before it will start selling the N86?

June 19 will not only bring lucky customers the iPhone 3GS and the Nokia N86 but also Nokia’s flagship phone the N97. That’s all happening in the UK and while no U.S. carrier is going to sell the the N97 for a subsidized price, Vodafone will do just that in the UK. The phone is available for pre-order and Vodafone is prepared to offer a free set of speakers worth £25 for every N97 and if you get the phone online then you get extra minutes which is certainly a good incentive. The phone will cost you £150 if purchased with a less than £40/month 2-year plan and it will be available free of charge if you’re going to get it with a £40/month (or higher) contract.

  • Nokia’s N86 passes through FCC

The last we heard of Nokia’s 8MP camera touting N86 was back in February when we first got wind of it. Well, up until now there was some speculation regarding whether or not the phone would ever hit the States.

Luckily, the above image was found in the FCC’s datebase confirming that the phone is at least in its early stages of hitting North American shelves.

With so many great phones on their way out the N86’s 8MP camera, OLED display and dual-sliding action is sure to have it standing out from the rest.

While the N96’s kickstand was just a bit of plastic to prop the handset up when displaying pictures or videos, the N86’s kickstand’s is in a different league altogether.  The stand can be assigned to open up any application installed on the N86 when it is kicked out.  So if you want a video player to launch every time you pop up the kickstand, you can do just that.  Now, how cool is that?  Just goes to show that it’s innovation like this that puts Nokia right above other manufacturers.

Nokia’s first 8 megapixel camera phone was said to arrive in the second quarter of 2009. And it looks like the N86 won’t arrive any time sooner. In fact, UK customers will get it around July 22. You can pre-order it right now but it won’t be shipped until that date. Expansys is currently displaying it and the pre-order price is about $850. That’s twice what Nokia said the 8 megapixel phone will cost. Will anyone pay that much for it? The smart thing to do is wait for a carrier to bring the N86 to you for a subsidized price. Or get an 8 megapixel camera phone from the competition.

  • Nokia N86 is the first camera phone from Nokia to offer us an 8 megapixel camera. And it’s a wide-angle Carl Zeiss optics camera able to take great pictures both in bright and low light conditions. Besides great pictures it will also let you record videos. The camera phone will cost around 375 Euros in the second quarter of 2009 when it will be launched.

Features like geotagging or fast uploading to Ovi Share and Flickr are also available. The internal 8GB memory will let you store about 4,000 images and if that’s not enough, it can be upgraded via microSD card up to an extra 16GB of space. The 2.6-inch OLED screen features scratch resistant hardened glass which will come in handy while you’re browsing through your recent pictures. The phone features full sync capability with a PC and TV-out support. It will come preloaded with Nokia Maps, OVI integration, a built-in compass and an integrated 3-months license for full voice and pedestrian navigation. There’s also support for 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth so you won’t have any problems sending your photos to any destination you choose.
