We will never get tired of the cheap knockoffs that find their way around the world from China and the level of perfection involved in ripping off some of the best-known handsets in the market.  The NOKLAN85-1 is one other example of the same Chinese ingenuity at work and looks exactly like the Nokia N85, complete with its dual slider form factor, 2.6-inch display, and even the start-up Nokia logo.  The other more important features are amiss with just Bluetooth, group SMS, GPRS support, voice recorder, and an ebook reader.

With just about $129 as its going price, the NOKLAN85-1 would be your cheap best bet if you want the looks but don’t have enough greens to shell out for the real thing, but only if you are ready to take hit on the feature front. (more…)

  • Nokia might not be that strong in Japan but it’s doing rather well in other markets. How does Nokia do it? Well it must be the quality of their phones or something like that.

If you’ve never had a Nokia you might want to try it. The N85 or the NAM will be released in December, or next week to be more precise. That’s the North American version, so don’t be surprised if your country won’t get it yet.

The N85 is available for pre-order and it will cost $556. Interested? It will be in stock on December 6th on Amazon.

  • Their last tease still hasn’t materialized, but Nokia is determined to plough on with yet more announcements this year. Come August 18, the Espoo, Finland-based manufacturer will unveil the latest members of the Nseries family, most likely to be the N79 and N85, in a closed online event before the public announcement on August 25th. The ever elusive XpressMedia 5800 or Tube seems not yet ready for the limelight though, and the N96 is still MIA more than a year after it was announced. We already know some tidbits about the handsets in question, like the dual-slider N85’s 5 megapixel camera and Symbian S60 FP2 operating system, and the N79’s 2.4-inch display and its own 5mpx lens. The event is only four days away, so look for us to get you more on it pretty soon!

  • Nokia N85 caught in the wild

This one made its first unofficial appearance exactly a month back hanging out with the likes of 5800 XpressMusic and the N79, but it looks like Nokia is having a tough time like Sony Ericsson with plugging holes and controlling leaks. Although this doesn’t cement anything about the N85, the rumored specs point to a positioning between the lovely N95 and the upcoming N96. From what we know at this point, it will be a dual-slider with a 5-megapixel camera, 3G support, GPS with geotagging, and S60 Third Edition FP2. These new pictures still reveal the model name as N00, so lot’s more development to go in before it’s worthy enough to get the N85 number. Read on for more pictures.
