The Nokia N79 comes now in an eco-friendly form. This is another green initiative coming from the Finnish company. The Nokia N79 Eco will ship to you without a charger. You will still pay the same price but £4 will go to WWF since there’s no charger in the box. The box of the N79 Eco is smaller which means you’ll also save on energy and waste.

Where will you get a charger from? Well you do have an old Nokia phone right? Or you can always buy an extra one from any shop. The N79 Eco is currently available in the UK but be sure to check with your local Nokia representative to see if it’s available in your country too.

  • Nokia N79 Approved by the FCC

Look what the FCC dragged in. It’s Nokia’s N79. The phone is expected on non-US markets to hit by the end of the year and it’s rumored to cost around $520. The phone might arrive in AT&T stores in the same time but there’s no official announcement to point to that.

The N79 will have 850/1900 UMTS support, a 5 megapixel Zeiss camera with sliding lens cover, dual LED flash, VGA video recording, TV-out, S60 Feature Pack 2 and probably more. I’d be curios to see how much will AT&T charge for it, but I guess that’s the subject for another story!

  • Their last tease still hasn’t materialized, but Nokia is determined to plough on with yet more announcements this year. Come August 18, the Espoo, Finland-based manufacturer will unveil the latest members of the Nseries family, most likely to be the N79 and N85, in a closed online event before the public announcement on August 25th. The ever elusive XpressMedia 5800 or Tube seems not yet ready for the limelight though, and the N96 is still MIA more than a year after it was announced. We already know some tidbits about the handsets in question, like the dual-slider N85’s 5 megapixel camera and Symbian S60 FP2 operating system, and the N79’s 2.4-inch display and its own 5mpx lens. The event is only four days away, so look for us to get you more on it pretty soon!

  • Nokia N85 caught in the wild

This one made its first unofficial appearance exactly a month back hanging out with the likes of 5800 XpressMusic and the N79, but it looks like Nokia is having a tough time like Sony Ericsson with plugging holes and controlling leaks. Although this doesn’t cement anything about the N85, the rumored specs point to a positioning between the lovely N95 and the upcoming N96. From what we know at this point, it will be a dual-slider with a 5-megapixel camera, 3G support, GPS with geotagging, and S60 Third Edition FP2. These new pictures still reveal the model name as N00, so lot’s more development to go in before it’s worthy enough to get the N85 number. Read on for more pictures.
