  • If you think the Apple App Store is taking all the heat for its controversial manner of approving submitted iPhone apps then guess again. Palm’s App Catalog made it first official app rejection by thumbing down the NaNplayer, a music player app.

Apparently the folks over at the App Catalog camp found some inconsistencies for the NaNplayer and this was traced to the undocumented use of a webOS API call. The said app was using the same API the built-in music player uses to index files so it could make playlists.

  • Dolce&Gabbana Sony Jalou

It seems that the Sony Ericsson branded Jalou isn’t the only Jalou to hit the market as we have recently also learned of a Dolce&Gabbana branded handset of a similar form factor also marketed towards the fashion conscious demographic.

This special edition Jalou is essentially the same thing as the Sony Ericsson Jalou, with EDGE and 3D capabilities, but features several Dolce&Gabbana brandings including on the front of the phone and on the included headphones, as you can see above. Spec wise we are still looking at the 3.2MP camera with video recording, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, and a music player.

Just like it’s brethren, the Sony Ericsson Jalou, the Dolce&Gabbana Jalou will hit selected markets in Q4 of 2009.

  • Vodafone continues to improve its current line of handsets and the latest is that of the Vodafone 527 Catwallk Collection. Away from the handset headlines, Vodafone continues to roll out own-brand phones that do the job, but come with at a no-frills price tag. As well as a bunch of new models announced recently, Vodafone has given its ultra low-cost models a Catwalk Collection refresh.

The new-look Vodafone 527 is one of these, a budget candybar phone that has been made over for value-conscious phone buyers who still desire a bit of show. The recession-beating 527 Catwalk Collection phone is now available in a range of eye-grabbingly colourful bodywork choices - violet, ice (white), rose (pink), lemon and sky (blue).

The 527 is not exactly stuffed to the gills with high-tech gadgetry. It’s a workmanlike dual-band GSM handset rather than a 3G model. But it does have a few features to entertain away the downturn, including a music player with MicroSD memory card expansion, FM radio, and camera.

And to prove it, they have released their latest handset, the Emgeton Enzo, a 3G candybar that kind of looks like Sony Ericsson’s C902. One thing that should be noted though, this phone does not come with the usual camera.

    Features:

    • 2.2 inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 260k colors
    • Tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity (900/1800/1900)
    • HSDPA 2100 connectivity (only for the first SIM card)
    • Bluetooth
    • MP3 / video player
    • E-mail
    • 2MP camera
    • VGA camera for video calls
    • 50MB of internal memory
    • MicroSD card support, up to 4GB
    • Talk time: up to 5 hours
    • Stand-by time: up to 10 days
    • 117 x 49 x 16.5 mm
    • 109 grams

This phone should be available starting April, carrying a SRP of $388.
