While many people are talking about the App Store hitting one billion downloads, Slacker Radio reports that it has surpassed the 1 million download mark for the BlackBerry Smartphones as well. BlackBerry enthusiasts cite many reasons for choosing Slacker, including a music library with four times as many songs and the high-fidelity audio on Slacker vs. the inferior mono audio of a leading competitor.

In addition, Slacker offers the only Personal Radio application that enables listeners to store their favorite stations on their memory card so they can listen whether they are connected to a wireless network or not. Cached stations provide better application performance and reduce battery requirements by as much as five times.

BlackBerry smartphone owners can create their own custom stations with all of their favorite artists and songs or listen to over 100 expert-programmed Slacker stations. Listeners can also read detailed artist biographies, album reviews and lyrics for songs, providing a powerful resource for music discovery.

The Slacker Radio App for BlackBerry smartphones is available as a free download on BlackBerry App World or by visiting Slacker.com from your BlackBerry(R) Browser.

A new tactical card game courtesy of Majesco Entertainment has been developed for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Most of you may be familiar with it, the KarmaStar Game. Developed by acclaimed game designer Harvey Smith, the game is a tactical card game and features a quirky, signature art style.

A light-hearted strategy game that lasts about 10 minutes, KarmaStar challenges players to maneuver through life against two opponents in just eight turns to build up personal traits and make opportunistic use of Wildcards and Bonus Scores. Just like real life, the game supports different paths to victory.

Combining a host of technical features — including the ability to play alone against the game’s AI or with two other players via WiFi — KarmaStar offers silky smooth animations and frame rate to make the playing experience that much more rewarding. Whether playing alone or against others, KarmaStar also tracks the player’s achievements, career high score, wins and losses, while giving players the option to listen to music from their iPod music library during play.

KarmaStar is now available for purchase through Apple’s iTunes Store for $4.99. For additional information about Majesco’s exciting line of products.
