Verizon Wireless has just announced its newest member of the mobile family with the Motorola Devour. While I would have chosen a better name for the Motorola Droid’s little brother, it does have some pretty cool features.
For example, it has Motoblur software which enables the user to “merge contact information from various accounts and social networking sites and stream content from sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, through a Happenings widget on your home screen”. The Devour has a universal in-box for messages, and runs on Android 1.6. It also has an HTML browser, 3-megapixel camera, HTML web browser with Flash lite, and a preinstalled 8GB microSD card. It should be available in March, but no word on the price.

For around 45 minutes, the 1.3.8 update for the Motorola CLIQ appeared online and was later on removed. The new update is said to help improve the battery life of the Motorola device, as well as increase touchscreen accuracy as well as better cellular connectivity on the Motorola CLIQ. It looks like someone over at Motorola is in hot water for this foul up!

Motorola has recently presented a very good cellphone in Korea, the MOTOROI XT720.
In terms of specifications the XT720 is very powerful like it can be proved by the 8-megapixel camera, or the support for microSD memory cards with 32GB, or even the 720p HD video recorder. As for the more normal features, it has a 3.7.inch WVGA display, an HDMI output and GPS capability.
Did I mention the T-DMB support for TV on the go? And did I forgot to say it runs the Android OS? Oh well, this sure looks like a good cellphone lets just hope the price is reasonable.

The fourth quarter profits are in for Motorola, and a small profit of $142 million was made. Granted, that might not seem small to you, but when you’re dealing with revenue of $5.723 billion, it isn’t all that good. Mobile Devices did $1.8 billion in sales, but lost $132 million. Home Networks and Mobility made $91 million on sales of $2 billion.
I suppose the down sales will lead to a few cents off a share, but we’ll see how they do in 2010.

We’ve already discussed how Motorola is planning a big Super Bowl ad, and we know a little more about it. Actually, what we know is pretty vague at best.
You can click here to see a sneak preview, which features nothing but a lady disrobing in order to get in the bath. It is not as provocative as you would think, and has nothing to do with “when the power of MOTOBLUR is unleashed”.
Motorola has also been throwing around these ads with Jim McMahon and Mike Ditka, and hinting that there is some sort of Super Bowl Shuffle reunion.
I suppose we’ll have to wait until February 7th to find out what is really going on.

Due to the threat made by Google to exit the Chinese market, the buyers of Android smartphones can now pick if they want to use Google or Baidu as a search service. In case you don’t now, Baidu is the popular search engine in China.
Anyhow, this scenario is only possible with the Motorola android smartphones, and to make the Android experience even better there are plans to launch an app store in China before February 14.
China Telecom, comments:
By providing them a choice in their applications and services, Motorola is letting consumers in China customize the way they experience the power of the mobile Internet

At first we thought the MOTOCUBO A45 smartphone was made for Brazil and the South American countries, but it seems that Motorola has started selling the device at their own stores on the US.
The MOTOCUBO A45 has an “Eco” tag that is directly related to the material used on the phone: recycled and corn-based materials. In the inside of the A45 you can find space for a microSD memory card of 32GB, a 2-megapixel camera, a full QWERTY keyboard, and a QVGA display. Nothing fancy but it is pretty good for an “eco” phone.
The Motorola MOTOCUBO A45 is already available for purchase.

Yes, this is a rendering, and yes, this shot is blurry, but this is usually what you will see when photos of cell phones under development mysteriously leak onto the Internet. In this case, the Motorola MOTOSPLIT.
As you can see, the MOTOSPLIT is named for its QWERTY keyboard that is split down the middle. I’m not certain whether that gives the user a faster ability to type text messages, but this phone is planned to be Snapdragon powered and comes with Android built-in.
According to my Source, this is coming to AT&T in Q3, but there is no word of a price or more exact date. I like the look of it, though. Hopefully we will report on it again when we get more information and a clearer photo.

We’ve already reported on the Motorola MOTOROI, the first Android-powered cellular phone for the Korean market. It would appear that T-Mobile wants to bring the mobile device to the United States.
We can only assume that it will have the same specs, such as Android 2.0, 3.7 inch WVGA screen, 8GB of storage, microSD slot, 8 megapixel camera, and 720p recording capability. It is also planned to have a T-DMB TV tuner for watching 24 of South Korea’s channels, but I suppose that will have to be altered for the States.
Well, we don’t have a price on this, but we can estimate that it will be out in March.

Patent issues seem to be growing in numbers and there is one between Motorola and VTech. The issue involves six Motorola patents asserted against VTech but it seems that both parties have settled the patent issue after entering a Settlement and Licensing Agreement. This ends their pending patent litigation in the Eastern District of Texas.

According to the Android blog Phandroid, Motorola’s Backflip may sell on AT&T, starting March 7.
The smartphone would normally cost $324 before any carrier, which is much less for any other Android phone. Neither Motorola or AT&T are saying if any of these supposed rumors are true, but AT&T did reveal that they wanted to have Android handsets for their market sometime this year, so why not this one?

In an interview with Laptop, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha revealed that the company plans on adding multi-touch capabilities to a “majority” of its phones. He said,
“I think you will see us deliver multitouch in the majority of our devices going forward. There’s a complex set of factors, not all of them technical.”
He was speaking of Google Android powered devices, like the Blur and the recently released Droid.

You would think that this new phone from Motorola would be some new kind of mobile, right? Wrong! It is a digital cordless phone, and it certainly looks like it is made to stay inside.
