09 Apr 09 Nokia Messaging Push Email Service Introduced in Spain

Thanks to an agreement between Telefonica Spain and Nokia Spain, the Nokia Messaging Push Email Service will be officially launched in Spain. Telefonica Spain will be among the first operators to bring this solution to market, continuing its investment in the development of mobile internet in Spain.

Nokia Messaging simplifies the mobilization of email. This new solution allows the easy access and use of multiple email accounts, by simplifying the process and removing complex steps. Push technology ensures the quick delivery of emails directly to the mobile phone.

Nokia Messaging is compatible with thousands of Internet service providers (ISPs), like with terra.es and telefonica.net. The service allows users to set-up, access and use personal inboxes in a quick and easy way. The service will be provided via a flat and affordable rate for Telefonica customers.

Nokia Messaging allows users to choose from a wide range of Nokia S60 devices. Telefonica customers can continue to use their preferred Nokia device and launch Nokia Messaging through an easy set-up process. In addition to ISP email accounts, Nokia Messaging also mobilizes the world’s most popular webmail accounts, including Yahoo! Mail, Windows Live Hotmail and Gmail. With Nokia Messaging, consumers can access up to 10 personal email accounts on one device.

06 Apr 09 Balance Inquiries Via Text Messaging

Text messaging technology has made its way into the banking scene as NYE has announced that it will offer balance inquiries by text message to its financial institution participants as a standard feature of full participation in the NYCE Network.

NYCE Payments Network, LLC, is a leading U.S. electronic payments network and a Metavante company. Metavante Corporation is a leading provider of banking and payments technology.

The basic text message transactions will be an extension of the balance inquiry functionality commonly available at NYCE Network ATMs, with no additional fees for mobilization. The new service, powered by Monitise Americas, will allow consumers to use text messaging to request and receive real-time balance information on their primary accounts.

Text message balance inquiries will work for virtually all mobile phone users regardless of their mobile carrier or the type of handset they use.
