All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

It has been tradition for the FCC to take a phone apart so that they can carefully check and scrutinize all internal components before approving them. The latest phone that underwent the knife is the much publicized Nokia X6 which is scheduled to be released by the end of the year. As you can see, it is a far cry from the Nokia X6 which was reported here at mobilewhack last month.

The Nokia X6 features a 3.2” touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera and even a TV out. It comes with 32GB of internal storage and will retail for about $459.

  • Privus continues its expansion as far as making its Caller ID software compatible with most mobile devices as it announces the compatibility of their service to telecom giant Nokia. Earlier this month, Privus Mobile had announced the same software for the Android phone.

Bringing the similar intent it had in providing Caller ID options for mobile devices, Nokia mobile phone owners will now be able to screen and have the option on whether to accept or reject incoming calls. Apparently this is a form of protection for mobile owners, avoiding the unnecessary calls that may be worthless or perhaps be unknown to them.

“With Privus Mobile, Nokia smartphone customers and those using Symbian OS devices now have the power to know who’s calling without having to answer the phone, check voicemail or call the person back. The average cell phone user is deprived of unknown caller’s names. It’s time they knew who’s on the other end of the line. It’s time they knew Privus Mobile.”

Nokia will be unveiling three new Xpress branded phones starting from their low end phone, the 5030 Candybar and the 5330 Xpress Music and 5730. All three phones are scheduled to be officially introduced tomorrow, further bolstering the line of XpressMusic handsets that have been carving out a niche for the Nokia brand.

  • Starting from the low end 5030 candybar, this one eschews XpressMusic for the less audiophile-sounding “XpressRadio” name, pimping its in-built FM radio support and a large, squarish speaker around back at a crazy low price of €40 ($51) unsubsidized.
  • The next phone up is the 5330 XpressMusic slider, packing a 3.5mm jack, some sort of special light effects for the ravers in the audience, and 24 hours of listening time. It is scheduled to be available in the third quarter for €160 ($204).
  • Last is the rumored 5730, the only of the three to run S60 and lay claim to a genuine smartphone title. This one follows in the E75’s footsteps by packing both a numeric and a landscape QWERTY slide, WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel cam, HSDPA, and GPS, but the most interesting new feature here might be the “Xpress Home Screen” which exposes your loaded media right from the phone’s home screen. This one should hit in the second quarter for €280 ($357) and will be offered in a Comes With Music version in some countries.
