  • Viewsonic has been known to deliver quality PC displays and lately, LCD solutions. Now it has added another line to its band of products with the launch of its first smartphone. Viewsonic today announced plans to expand into the 3G smartphone industry, making its 3” – 300” product line a reality. China will be the first region to carry the phones, followed by Europe and the Americas.

This marks ViewSonic’s first product in the smartphone market, but falls in line with the convergence of televisions, computers and mobile phones. As the demand for mobile phone functionality increases, ViewSonic’s heritage in display technology plays an important role in the development of smartphones.

Consumers are demanding larger screens, greater color saturation and contrast to take advantage of new services such as mobile Internet, television and video applications, gaming and eBooks.

Following successful market entries with LCD monitors, LCD TVs, projectors, digital signage displays, digital photo frames, computing products and other display solutions, ViewSonic is well positioned to take advantage of the rapidly expanding 3G smartphone market.

In case you haven’t noticed, most people today are doing their shopping online. This is the new age of consumer buying and apparently some sectors are trying to bite into the craze, enhancing mobile interface options to get in with the times.

In PriceGrabber.com’s March 2009 survey, nearly 58 percent of online consumers currently own a mobile phone capable of connecting to the Web. Of the online consumers with Web-enabled phones, 21 percent own a smartphone, 8 percent own an iPhone, and 29 percent own another type of Web-enabled phone. Forty-two percent of survey respondents said they own a non-Web-enabled phone capable of using voice and text service plans only.

Web-enabled phones have become increasingly mainstream, and much of this popularity can be attributed to the release of the iPhone. The iPhone, released on June 29, 2007, jump-started mainstream smartphone adoption, with 75 percent more online consumers purchasing their first Web-enabled phone in 2007 compared with 2006. Despite the economic climate, 8 percent of online consumers purchased their first Web-enabled phone in the first quarter of 2009.

Smartphone and iPhone owners are comfortable using the mobile Internet to make purchases. Fifty-six percent of Apple iPhone owners and 28 percent of smartphone owners already are comparing prices online with their mobile phones. Additionally, 27 percent of iPhone owners and 35 percent of smartphone owners anticipate that they will be comparing prices within two years.

PriceGrabber.com will continue to track mobile Internet shopping trends and shifts in consumer behavior in the coming months.

For people who often find themselves browsing the web using their mobile devices, you don’t have to worry anymore about compatibility and complicated issues thanks to Bytemobile.

Bytemobile today announced its MobileMatch application, which is designed to assist users in navigating the increasingly complex Web on mobile devices.

Unlike existing solutions, the new software enables operators to dynamically present users with personalized content and services through real-time analysis of browsing behavior, application data and subscriber data.

The result is a productive and satisfying mobile internet experience without extensive search and navigation.”

The MobileMatch software is a new application of Bytemobile’s Optimization and Services Node (OSN). Deployed in the core data path of the network, the OSN provides intelligent policy-based gateway functions and optimization services that enable operators to improve network efficiency, capacity and scalability while delivering faster web browsing to mobile subscribers.
