What do you know, Canadians, the Droid is ready to come your way soon. The phone will be known as the Milestone which seems to be the name Motorola has decided to stick with when it comes to the rest of the world. The Milestone has already been spotted in Germany and Brazil so it’s safe to say that only Verizon will sell it as the Droid in the USA.

Telus is said to bring the Milestone to Canadian customers early next year but there are no dates available at this point. There are no price tags either yet so we will all have to wait for the official press release before we get excited.

  • Just a few days ago we’ve shown you the GSM version of the Motorola Droid without actually knowing what market was going to get it first. Today we have some great news for your folks. If you live in Germany then you’ll be happy to know that the Droid is coming to you. The Droid will be coming from O2 Germany and it will be called the Motorola Milestone. The phone will be available for around $595 before taxes and subsidies. We have no release dates but we should expect the Milestone to hit O2 stores sometime before Christmas. O2 is the first carrier to offer the GSM version of the Droid so we’re definitely interested to see who’s going to follow.

The Apple App Store hits another milestone today. While everyone knows how hard it is to get an app approved, hitting the 100,000 mark is an achievement in itself. While only 93,118 of these apps can actually be purchased, there are minor discrepancies such as sudden pullouts of apps due to some issues. In short, the list may not be up to date.

If you want the actual count, there are 101,847 approved apps to date. Audited or unaudited, tip your hats off to the App Store for achieving these numbers and feat. Another testament to the growing success of the app store for the many iPhone and iPod Touch owners looking for specific apps for their mobile device.

It was recently announced that China Mobile has officially surpassed 500,000,000 subscribers. In other words, that’s over half a billion.

If this is hard for you to fathom, Engadget points to the fact that if China Mobile were a US carrier, they would have 1.65 phones for every single person in the country. See it a bit clearer?

Anyways this is truly an amazing milestone and it’s now only a matter of time until China Mobile passes the 1 billion subscriber mark.

When we come across game apps, the usual objective is to get high scores and of course rewards. We have a lot of this on the iPhone. However, this new game app from GOSUB 60 called Bliss offers something different. Users will still get the standard high scores and rewards but can exchange them for donations over at the Beautiful Day Foundation which supports the fight against cancer.

Bliss is a combination of puzzles and matching games wherein a player would get pink ribbons when they reach a certain milestone. These pink ribbons are then exchanged for points or donations to the Beautiful Day Foundation in their quest to fight the dreaded breast cancer. The foundation is responsible for creating education to women and provides the necessary support for women inflicted with the said disease.

The Bliss app can be downloaded at the Apple App Store for $0.99. The app is also available for download for the Blackberry phones and can be downloaded at the Blackberry App World.

If you are a sucker for the “Dash” games brought to us by PlayFirst, then it is no wonder why the company has hit a milestone of sorts. Today, PlayFirst reportedly hit the 5 million download mark, something which was just waiting to happen and not really surprising.

PlayFirst is famous for such games such as Diner Dash, Wedding Dash, Doggie Dash and Diner Dash 2. And while we can easily play the flash game based on the PC, its transition to the mobile phone niche has really become something to marvel at. And to date, don’t be surprised if a lot more people download the “Dash” games. They are certainly something worth having on the mobile phone, particularly the iPhone and the iPod Touch.

PlayFirst works with a number of industry partners to distribute its games on mobile platforms including Glu Mobile with whom it has partnered since 2005.
