The latest rumor concerning the future generation of Apple iPod touch players says that the new devices will be packing both a camera and a microphone. That means the future iPod touch will be almost similar to the iPhone. All you need to make calls to your friends is to install a VoIP service on your iPod and get some decent WiFi coverage. Does that sound a little bit scary to carriers?

The new units are currently being manufactured by Chinese contractors and they are said to be available sometime in the following two to three months. There’s no indication regarding any other changes but we’ll keep you in the loop as soon as we find out more about the new iPod touch.

  • Motorola HX-1 Bluetooth Headset

Nothing beats using your mobile phone and talking at the right time. Rather than push some button that allows you to speak, wouldn’t it be nice if there would be some kind of headset that operates based on something like vibrations?

Well, thanks to Motorola, now there is one. The new device is the Motorola HX-1 Bluetooth Headset which can switch off the microphone and turns on an in-ear sensor from bone vibrations. The one of a kind feature is called the true bone conduction technology by Motorola.

The technology picks up from the familiar jawbone headsets technology which some other headsets may have had. Though no pricing has been announced for it yet, it is expected to initially hit the Asian market next month.

The Triple.fi 10vi is what its creators claim to be ”the sonic equivalent of sitting in the world’s best recording studios”. Well if that is really so then maybe the price could be justified. Only by looking at them you would think they are just plain, although interesting, earbuds.

Apparently they also have different features like the dual precision balanced armature for low and mid range frequencies, audio filters to shape sound signature, integrated passive crossover to direct sound frequencies to the appropriate speakers, as well as voice functionality with that microphone and a multitask button allowing you to answer/end a phone call and control an audio and video player.

It sure promises great sound quality, but is it really worth $420.00? Well, it’s up to you to decide!

In addition to the Harmony 510 remote, Logitech has released a new microphone named Cordless Vantage Microphone, which is compatible with PlayStation2 and PlayStation3.

Priced at $30 and full of promises of being a great microphone, the Vantage has 20 hours of battery life which seems enough to play plenty of games on the gaming consoles. Due to the 2.4GHZ wireless USB receiver that is suppose to have an easy setup process, you can use the mic by being 30 feet away from the PS, and the sound will have a high quality.

A good 2-in-1 combination used in this system is that the receiver is able to hold the microphone when not being used, which saves space.

So what do you need next? How about some PlayStation games that require a microphone as a tool? That would be convenient…

Here’s something I wasn’t exactly waiting for at today’s “Let’s Rock” event. Besides all the iPods that we’ve seen, besides the new iTunes 8.0, besides the iPhone/iPod touch 2.1 firmware, Apple has introduced a new feature to the iPod. Voice recording. That’s something I would have wanted more than once in the past.

I had to show you this gadget. Have you ever been in a phone conversation you simply felt you had to record and wasn’t able to do it? Or are you just paranoid and tend to record events from your life, like talking to your mother, girlfriend or boss?

If so, for $18 you can have this Olympus TP-7 microphone that goes in your ear. That means that what you hear gets recorded. Say you have a tumultuous conversation from your landline and you wish you recorded it. Nothing easier with the Olympus TP-7 waiting in your ear. Turn it on and it will record everything you hear. As long as it’s connected to a recorder of any type.

Does this mean you’ll have to wear the microphone at all times as you’ll never know when you’ll have to use it?

If you’re located in the midst of the metropolis or working in a place where there’s incessant noise, you’d know when I say that the world has a need for silencer when talking on the mobile phone. Well, worry not because e-Mimi-kun is here.

The product e-Mimi-kun was designed by a Japanese company. The name came from “ii mimi-kun” which literally means “Mr. Good Ear.” e-Mimi-kun is both a microphone and an earphone. It transmits your voice via the vibrations inside your ear. At the same time, it blocks out ambient noise, making it perfect for noisy places. You can choose to plug the device to your mobile phone or use it wirelessly with a Bluetooth-enabled mobile.
