All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Did you like LG’s first Lotus phone? In case you did, then you’ll be happy to know there’s a new LG Lotus 2 in the works. The phone is rumored to sport a touchscreen display and could be available from Sprint stores in January 2010. We have no specs for now and no pricing information but we’ll be back as soon as LG starts leaking info about the handset. Curiously enough the phone hasn’t been mentioned in that roadmap that leaked earlier this week so you could end up waiting a while until you get your Lotus 2. But then again, if you didn’t like the Lotus in the first place then maybe the Lotus 2 is not for you.

  • If color was the only factor deterring you from getting your beau an LG Lotus, Sprint has added another option that looks interesting.  The QWERTY-toting clamshell was previously available in purple, which isn’t exactly popular among the masses, and black with a matte finish when it released last year.  Besides from the new red exterior, the LG LX600 is the same old chubby self with its 2mpx camera, Bluetooth, and the QWERTY keypad for the more furious texters.

Available now on Sprint for just $49.99 (compared to $99.99 that the originals demanded) with a suitable contract.

  • Nokia E75 Starts Shipping

There is a new phone in town and they go by the name of the Nokia E75. The Nokie E75 is the latest handset from the Nokia E-Series. This is the first device to ship with the new email user interface, offering full desktop email functionality, and complete integration of Nokia’s email and messaging services.

The Nokia E75 has a slide out QWERTY keyboard and efficient three-step email setup. This simplicity is achieved with the integration of Nokia Messaging, which ships with a device for the first time in the Nokia E75. Nokia Messaging is a service that opens up the world’s leading consumer email accounts - including Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and Windows Live Hotmail - and is joined by Nokia’s corporate email clients, Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler, which provide direct access to over 90 percent of the world’s corporate inboxes as well.

The Nokia E75 also integrates tightly to other Ovi services and ships with Ovi Files, for storing files online, Nokia Maps, which works with the onboard A-GPS, and Nokia’s games service N-Gage which is supported for the first time in a Nokia Eseries device.

  • lg-lotus-red Look whose back! It’s LG Lotus, now in red. Sprint just released the spec sheet of the Lotus Clamshell. The new model features a stylized cover which adds to its beauty. This is the third color of the model, after the purple and the matte black versions. The specs are similar to the previous releases however the cover is an addition. As per rumors Sprint will bring the phone to the general public by mid-April with price tags similar to the current versions. The phone will serve the seekers of new style, others might consider sticking to the earlier versions.

  • Sprint Reveals LG Lotus

Sprint has recently lifted the curtains on LG’s latest handset the, very sleek, LX600 Lotus. This phone will feature a very unique design, as you can see above, in the sense that it will feature a full QWERTY keypad in a flip style phone.

The Lg LX600 will feature Bluetooth 2.0 along with a 2.0MP camera and will be avaiable on Sprint in October for $149.99, with the QWERTY keyboard as the obvious selling point.

This is probably one of the more femenine phones due to it’s compact size and, hopefully optional, purple finish.

In a move sure to get Microsoft thinking, IBM will be releasing a version of Lotus Symphony for Macs at the Lotusphere Conference next week in Orlando. Lotus Symphony is a free productivity package consisting of a word processor, spreadsheet application, and a presentation application based on the increasingly popular open document format (ODF).

Although there are no clear details, along with the Symphony, IBM is promising a version of Lotus Notes email application for the iPhone and iTouch, a software which makes use of IBM’s Domino email server program, aimed at competing directly with the RIM’s Blackberry and other business-oriented phones, at $39 for new users while keeping it free for the current customers. This would mean that IBM has got it hands on Apple’s SDK, expected to be released next month.

This is the first time the two giants are collaborating on a software platform, after Apple stopped using IBM’s chips in favor of Intel’s. “We have a lot in common,” IBM spokesman Mike Azzi said. “We’re going to cross-pollinate.” A clear indication of teaming up to contend with Microsoft, we say.
