LG XPION X30 Ion-based Nettop

LG Electronics unveils another mini nettop that should give ASUS a run for their money. The LG XPION XS30 Ion-based nettop features an Atom N230 CPU, 2GB of RAM 250GB HDD and comes with a Windows Vista OS. It has four USB ports and weighs only 2.4 lbs.

It consumes only 40 watts of power and can be easily mounted to the back of LCDs that have provisions for such nettops. The LG XPION X30 nettop is scheduled for release in Korea tomorrow.

  • iResQ offers more than just iPhone repairs. Now, it has added the much wanted matte MacBook LCD screens, something that even Apple could not provide. The Apple-authorized repair facility now broadens its service lineup, giving people who have issues with their iPhone, iPod Touch and Macbooks a big sigh of relief.

“We’ve noticed there’s a lot of talk out there about dust in iPhone 3G screens. iResQ now has the capability to clean that up at a competitive price.” As for the new iPhone 3G repairs, “The iPhone 3G has been out for a year now, so it’s about that time when a lot of people start to need fixes for parts that are out of warranty. We’re happy to expand our considerable number of iPhone repairs to meet the needs of a growing segment of users.” - Brian Buffington, iResQ’s general manager.

New repairs being offered by iResQ now include:

    • screen dust removal
    • headphone jack flat-rate repairs
    • battery replacements

True enough, the LCDs of modern day phones, iPhones and iPod Touch gadgets in particular are one of the most sensitive parts that one would dread having to replace or fix. Authenticity is one problem they want to address but now iResQ assures everyone that they will certainly get what they need without sacrificing quality at that.

Acer has announced new updates to its K-12 Seed Unit Program. Acer is again offering schools the opportunity to “test drive” an Acer Netbook for use in the classroom through a free, no-obligation 30-day trial.

Running now through August 31, 2009, any K-12 school or school district in the United States is eligible to enter. The only requirement is that they use an Aspire® AOD150-1165 Netbook free for 30 days and participate in two short conference calls with Acer to provide feedback about their experience with the product. Schools can also purchase their trial netbook at a 50 percent discount or return it to Acer without further obligation.

In September, just in time for the new school year, Acer will hold a random drawing, where one participating K-12 school or school district will win a computer lab, while three other schools will receive 30 Acer Netbooks. The computer lab consists of 30 Aspire One Netbooks; 30 Veriton Desktops; and 30 Acer 17” V Series LCDs.

VARs who sign up an approved school or school district will be eligible to win one of five powerful Acer Predator gaming desktops.

Samsung is another big name in the mobile business and not only that decided to start a big reorganization. Yes is the “great” economy that caused the whole move. The company will split into two divisions, a Digital Media and Communications division responsible for phones, TVs and other electronics and a Device Solution division which will work on components, semiconductors and LCDs. Samsung’s CEO, Lee Yoon-woo will keep the title and he will lead the Device Solution division and the president of the cellphone unit, Choi Gee-sung will get the Digital Media and Communications division.

Is anything good to come out of this? Hopefully the cell phone business will stay afloat, ready to fight Nokia and the others in 2009 too. We wouldn’t want to see less Samsung cell phones out there, would we?
