There’s one more company interested in making Android phones, Japan’s Kyocera. The company plans to launch its first smartphone capable of running Google’s OS at some point in next year. And we definitely hope we’re going to see more than one Kyocera phone in 2010. Besides Android plans, Kyocera is also thinking about LTE. Its first dual CDMA/LTE phone is scheduled to arrive in 2011 but we don’t know what platform it will use. Can we assume it’s going to be an LTE Android phone?

This thing here is supposed to be a phone. A concept phone that folds and is equipped with OLED technology. The EOS from Kyocera will offer you a portrait QWERTY mode or a full-on widescreen OLED display. Basically there’s a solution for all your needs so you’ll be able to enjoy the way you communicate with your friends and family. Other features of the EOS will include memory keys that morph flat when they’re not being used and a recharging method based on kinetic energy from piezoelectric generators. When will we see one out on the market? Kyocera will be looking to introduce some of these technologies in the near future.

The Japanese manufacturer, Kyocera, has come up with a futuristic phone that changes shape from a clamshell to a wallet or clutch-purse. Nicknamed the “EOS,” the concept folding phone incorporates a flexible OLED display surrounded by a soft and semi-rigid polymer casing.
Housed in a neat, compact design, the concept phone offers great adaptability, thanks in part to the flexible screen that unfolds to reveal the widescreen display. Furthermore, the EOS doesn’t need any battery, because the phone translates kinetic energy into an electric charge via an range of nano-scale piezoelectric generators when it physically interacts with the user. When not in use this sleek design can hide the keyboard.

The handset in the picture here has an uncommon feature. It comes with a belt which will let you to wear it on your waist. It’s the Kyocera NS01 which is otherwise a pretty simple phone. It comes with a 2.8-inch QVGA display, a 2 megapixel camera and e-wallet support. Do we really need belts attached to our phones? Are people stealing more phones?
Anyway, the phone will arrive in Japan at some point but we have no idea about the price yet. I wonder how much the belt costs!

At the CTIA Wireless earlier this month, Kyocera unveiled a few new CDMA phones including the first one on our list–the Kyocera Neo E1100. In absence of a better picture, the one above shows its blue lightpipe with a “breathing” lighting design. The Kyocera phone features a hidden external 16 x 104 pixels monochromatic OLED display, a 2.2″ QVGA glowing display, 1.3 megapixel camera, voice recognition, and Bluetooth 2.0. The device measures 89.5 x 52 x 16.7 mm and weighs 90 grams. Kyocera has unveiled its new Adreno S2400, a low-end flip phone that offers a simple design and functional features. Before anybody gets all hyped up, I’d like to inform eveybody beforehand that there is not a lot of whizbang functionality here. In fact, the Adreno is designed for thos users who needs only the basic functions of their phone - that is calls.
That is not such a bad thing. In fact, its simplicity is very much welcome especially in the market where manufacturers are trying everyday to one-up each other with flashy new phones. Still, the Adreno isn’t all that primitive. It does offer Bluetooth 1.2 and voice dialing. You’ll also find text and multimedia messaging, basic organizer features, a speakerphone, a WAP Internet browser, voice memos, a vibrate mode, and a 500-contact phone book.
The Adreno’s design is dominated by squares and rectangles, from the rectangle of the phone itself to the square, and monochrome, external display. This angular theme continues to the inside as well. The 65,000 color rectangular display is surrounded by a rectangular frame while just below it are the boxy navigation array and keypad buttons.
Adreno is a CDMA phone and it supports BREW instead of Java.

After investors saved Sanyo from a US$2.8billion debt, for the company to be sold is already a given. Indeed, Sanyo has revealed that they’re selling to Kyocera Corporation. The deal, including Sanyo’s debts, would amount to, reportedly, US$467 million, although a final price is yet to be set. The intensive competition has compelled Sanyo to sell out “to meet the best interest of the business and its stockholders.” A total number of around 2,000 employees would be transferred to Kyocera although the handsets would still carry the Sanyo name in Japan and world wide.

The resulted as Sanyo and other Japanese cellphone makers are in a tough position as they compete with much larger rivals such as Finland’s Nokia and Motorola Inc. of the United States outside Japan, and face a maturing market at home.
