All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

I mean it couldn’t be an Agora! Kogan announced that the Agora Android phones were postponed until further notice. So what is this handset right here then? It looks like an Agora and it’s available for sale. And it’s called the “Shining”. That name seems awfully familiar! Are we to expect Jack Nicholson to pop out of it with an axe in his hands? The price is $240 if you buy 100 of them. Definitely these phones aren’t the real thing but it’s surely good to know a Kogan Agora phone could exist. And if some Chinese manufacturers went through all this trouble to copy the Agora, it must mean that the Agora might just be a goon enough Android phone. We’re kind of sorry this Android hasn’t seen the light of day yet but we’re counting on Kogan to change that.

And we thought this baby was going to be the second available Android handset out there. The Kogan Agora was supposed to arrive soon. People started pre-ordering the device hoping to get it after January 29th.

But all that is history now as the phone has been delayed until further notice. The founder, Ruslan Kogan says that the Agora and Agora Pro have a bad screen with poor resolution, unable to cope with the high resolution applications which it would have to run. Come on Kogan, what’s the real reason behind the move?

In case you are one of those that pre-ordered the device, you will receive your $300 back but hopefully the Kogan Agora will be available sometime later.

In case you were curios to see which handset will be the next one to run on Android then we have the answer for you. Kogan Agora is officially the second Android smartphone out there. The phone will be announced these following days at CES but we do have some information on it.

The phone will will come in two versions, the Agora and the Agora Pro. The Agora Pro will feature quad-band EDGE, tri-band HSDPA, a 2.5 inch 320 x 240 touchscreen, a full QWERTY keypad, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, WiFi and a 2 megapixel camera. The Pro will sell for $285 USD when it will become available.

The Agora will get almost everything we’ve told you about the Pro except for the GPS, the WiFi and the camera. The Agora will cost only $212 USD but I think most of us will prefer the Pro instead.

Kogan Agora Android Phones Announced

Disappointed by the T-Mobile Android, but still want to jump on the Google Android bandwagon? Fret not, as two new Googlephones have been announced, and they’re dirt cheap compared to similarly specced phones.

Dubbed the Kogan Agora and Kogan Agora Pro, the phones will drop in at US$190 and $250, respectively, and offer 2.5 inch touchscreen (320×240), 3G speeds, backlit QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 2.0 and microSD card slot. The Pro version adds GPS, 2-megapixel camera and Wifi.

So, what do you guys think? Will it be worth it?
