We talked about the Eee Keyboard all year long while waiting for Asus to make it official. Well guess what, folks, it’s still not available. The computer has been announced and then delayed at least a couple of times, and just when we thought we might actually see it in action we hear that the Eee Keyboard is being revised. Apparently the 5-inch resistive touchscreen panel is not good anymore and a capacitive touchscreen display will replace it. The new panel should offer a better touch experience as it will resemble the one found on various smartphones out there, including the iPhone.

The Eee Keyboard will probably not be available before Christmas so you can go ahead and scratch it off your letter for Santa.

  • It looks like Apple is planning to launch a brand new Bluetooth Keyboard coupled with a new Mighty Mouse. We don’t have the specs but the FCC does. Apple’s models A1314 and A1296 will probably replace the current wireless keyboard, the A1255 and the current Mighty Mouse, the A1197. What we know so far is that the future keyboard is going to be even smaller than the current model while the new Mighty Mouse will be even more interesting as it is rumored to be made of aluminum and bring some new multitouch features to iMac owners. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait a while until we see them as Apple made sure only the FCC will have access to pictures of these new peripherals.

If rumors are true, Verizon Wireless may be coming out with another mobile phone with the LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 this October. Originally posted by Dax a couple of days ago, the LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 carries an entirely different look compared to the much publicized LG Chocolate BL40. Most of the striking features were already covered in that post although one rumored addition was the presence of a drum pad and keyboard. With this add-on, people can whip up their own beats!

The features laid out for the LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 are indeed tempting to consider. And most of the features can be finally verified come October 18 once Verizon officially rolls out the phone. No word on the retail price though.

  • iTwinge physical iPhone keyboard

One of the biggest gripes consumers have with the iPhone is the fact that there is no physical keyboard, instead only an on screen software keyboard. Luckily, Mobile Mechatronics has such consumers covered with their iTwinge iPhone keyboard.

As you can see above, the iTwinge is essentially an iPhone sleeve that includes a physical keyboard for use with texting, notes or anything else that requires text input. And, priced at $30, the iTwinge may be just what the doctor ordered.

  • At this point I’m not sure you guys should even make any plans for purchasing Asus’ hot keyboard-computer the Eee Keyboard. We’ve told you a bunch of times that it will be available soon but Asus failed to actually launch it. Now it looks like the Eee Keyboard is coming in October but there’s always a chance for Asus to change its mind. You should have ready $400 to $500 in order to acquire this baby and you should keep praying for Asus to really launch it next month.

I’ll quickly remind you what this PC is all about, just in case you forgot:

    • 5-inch display
    • 1.6GHz Atom processor,
    • 1GB of RAM
    • 16/32GB SSD
    • WiFi
    • HDMI and UWB HDMI connectivity
    • Bluetooth
    • Windows XP (dare we say Windows 7?)

A number of laptops that have been appearing in the market in the last few months have included Bluetooth by default. To take advantage of this fact, and to make your life just a little bit wire-free, Microsoft recently unveiled the Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000. Featuring the company’s Comfort Curve layout, the number pad is split from the main keyboard making it easy to carry just the keyboard along with you when you travel, for example.

Slated for an October 2009 release, the Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000 and Number Pad will retail for US $89.95 and $44.95 respectively, and come with a worldwide 3-year limited warranty. A Bluetooth transceiver is not included as far as we know, because, well, one of the requirements is that your laptop should already have integrated Bluetooth. Two AAA batteries for the keyboard and one AAA battery for the number pad are included.

Samsung Electronics unveils another mobile handset in the Samsung S5500E Lydford, an eco-slider phone encased in a blue casing with special eco features. First off, the phone and packaging (made of recycled paper and soy ink) is made from recycled materials.

Add to that the fact that unlike most phones, the Samsung S5500E Lydford even comes with an alarm that alerts you when the battery is full during charging times. This feature is a great highlight considering that most people today we want to save on energy. Also, this helps in preserving battery life and keep it from being overcharged.

For the standard feature of the Samsung S5500E Lydford, it has a 2.2” QWVGA screen, a 3 megapixel camera and of course the eco-sliding keyboard. No word yet on the date of release and pricing for the Samsung S5500E Lydford eco-slider handset.

  • The Nokia N900 is Now Official!

You can throw away all those leaked rendered photos and rumors out the window. Nokia has finally made the Nokia N900 official, releasing it together with the Maemo 5 OS. The Nokia N900 is expected to be unraveled next week at Nokia World.

  • Nokia N97 Mini Thumbed Down

The brand may be a popular one but that doesn’t mean that they are immune to criticized handsets. That is what perhaps best sums up how the Nokia N97 Mini is as far as reviews from the critics are concerned. And among the main reasons for the thumbs down given to the Nokia N97 Mini is traced to its awful keyboard and downsized memory.

Up and close, the Nokia N97 Mini is a dead ringer for the N900. So if you compare both phones, why would anyone prefer the other one? In short, there may be little resemblance if no improvement at all if you are considering the newly approved N97.

The only thing going right now is what other features and pricing the Nokia N97 Mini has planned. Hopefully though there are more features to look forward to like perhaps a touch-screen feature? Keep your fingers crossed!

  • The Asus Eee Keyboard should have been available by now but this hot netbook is not coming anytime soon. Asus has delayed the launch and we might see it arrive in stores only sometime in October. There’s no official announcement just yet, but people say that the Eee Keyboard will cost somewhere in the $400-$500 range and that Asus will launch it after the Eee Top All-in-One PC that’s coming in September. So what do you think? Is it worth waiting for it?

We’ve known about MSI’s ultrathin X340 notebook since March and at the time, it looked like a very capable device. However, enough users must have had gripes about it because we were recently notified that MSI has made some hardware changes.

The X340 will come standard with an 8-cell battery, as opposed to the previous 4-cell, the device’s keyboard will be getting an update which Laptop Magazine says will make it “no longer act like a trampoline”. And finally, MSI will cut $100 off the X340’s price tag making it now available for $799.

    Any buyers?

When it comes to traditional casing, our thought are often directed towards the standard and default black leather casing. But don’t tell that to Carie Dunham who has taken the initiative in providing various colored casings for most devices in use today. Initially focusing on digital cameras, Carie Dunham now unveils her new line of preppy styles aimed at the iPod, Kindle and Netbooks.

The new designs are great alternatives towards standard looking bags that protect devices from scratches and falls. While the initial batch of cases launched seemed to be color-coded according to the taste of women, she will be launching another line aimed specifically for the men soon.

Not only are the bags good looking but they are also highly functional with thoughtful, unique design elements like pleated battery compartments, comfortable handle lengths, hidden zippers for port access and flaps to protect the screen from the keyboard. There is even a reversible laptop bag-two bags in one.

What you see above is a tech demo of a pressure sensitive keyboard. This technology is still a ways off but the video demonstrators give us a few examples of how such a keyboard could make our typing lives easier.

For you gamers out there, they show an example where your movement speed and jumping height is determined by the force of key presses. For everyone else, there is example where font sized is determined key press force along with being able to delete whole words or single characters by pressing the delete key harder of softer.
