BlackBerry owners will be happy to hear that RIM is interested to hire a “WebKit Developer.” That means the Canadian company is considering developing a totally new mobile browser. It’s actually not a secret anymore as RIM did purchase Torch Mobile a while ago, which happens to be the company that created the WebKit-based Iris browser. Apparently that’s not enough and RIM needs a more qualified WebKit developer to help out with the cause. A new browser for the BlackBerry OS will definitely be a blessing so if you happen to have the needed skills then go ahead and apply for the job! We’ve been waiting for a new mobile Internet browser for BlackBerry smartphones for too long now.

Barnes & Noble has just announced its first eBook reader, the Nook and it looks like the company is planning to take its business to the next level. The company is currently looking to hire a “head of their international business.” In other words, if you happen to have a great, ecommerce-oriented and educated mind and have the guts to apply and the job could be yours. Candidates from New York are encouraged to send in their resumes but European-based executives will also be accepted.

There are no details regarding the future of Barnes & Noble’s international branch but we’ll be back with those once the company has a team in place ready for action.

Microsoft is moving pretty fast with its stores and it looks like the company is looking for personnel for its first two stores. So if you’re good with Microsoft gadgets and you have enough patience to explain in laymen terms why Windows still comes up with blue screens of death then you might be the perfect person for the job. And any of you future Microsoft Geniuses will have to be able to relocate to Scottsdale, Arizona or Mission Viejo, California if you do get hired. Or you could always wait for Microsoft to expand to your area and try your luck with Apple store in the mean time.

Games are known to be addicting but if you get a report that people have lost their jobs and even grown a beard from playing this game, then you know it is something that must be really addicting. The game in focus is the soon to be released tower defense game for the iPhone and the iPod Touch called Warp Defense.

To date, only 30 people have reportedly tried it out. But what is really surprising is that there are unconfirmed reports that these people have lost their jobs, grew long hair and have gained weight. Players use any combination of sticks, guns, arrows, along with their wits, to keep the tower safe.

Is there such a thing as an over-addicting game that could get a person fired? Well, there is only one way to find out. Wait until Warp Defense hits the App Store and find out!

iPhone App Will Help Job Seekers

Need a job? Grab your iPhone and make it work for you. Unemployment is a common issue today but there is a new iPhone app that can perhaps get you back working in no time. The iPhone and iPod Touch can deliver that edge through a savvy combination of apps designed to find open jobs, prepare candidates for interviews and now, apply for positions in real time.

With the launch of beamME CV this week on the iTunes store, job seekers can — for the first time — “beam” a resume, cover letter and electronic business card (vCard) directly from their iPhone or iPod Touch, instantly responding to job opportunities wherever they may be. beamME CV also includes full beam history for easy follow-up, Contact Maps to help remember where meetups took place, and the highly optimized beamME experience; there are no downloads, registrations or special hardware required of the resume’s recipient.

Now available on the iTunes store, beamME CV is $6.99 for unemployed job seekers, and $9.99 before rebate. beamME CV is also backed by a thirty-day unconditional guarantee and a tree is planted in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation (http://arborday.org) with every purchase.

While Vodafone has gained much headway into the industry, it is not spared from the economic problems being encountered by most people today. Mobile phone giant Vodafone has frozen salaries for its 10,000 UK staff as it looks to slash costs, it has been reported.

The move comes barely a month after Vodafone announced it was cutting around 500 jobs in the UK as part of plans to save £1 billion worldwide by March 2011.

According to the Independent on Sunday other measures to affect the firm’s UK subsidiary include scrapping bonuses and ordering sales representatives to keep their cars for longer.

In a confidential memo Guy Laurence, chief executive of the UK business, reportedly told staff the move to stop pay rises was a “tough decision to make, but a responsible one”.

Vodafone to Make Job Cuts

It looks like even the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer will have to undergo job cuts as well. This was announced as Vodafone is set to cut off some jobs to be able to reduce costs amidst the economic slowdown.

The company aims to announce the measures on Feb. 24, said the people, who declined to be identified because the plans are confidential. The jobs will be eliminated at Vodafone’s U.K. operations, the people said, declining to give a precise number.

Vodafone on Nov. 11 slashed its full-year sales forecast for the second time in four months, while keeping its profit forecast, raising the full-year free cash flow prediction and increasing the dividend payment.

Vodafone’s U.K. unit had a margin on earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of 23.2 percent in the six months ended Sept. 30. In Germany, Vodafone’s biggest market, the margin was 44 percent and in Italy 44.9 percent.
