You have been waiting so long folks for the actual iPhone 3.1 OS jailbreak to arrive and the iPhone Dev Team has delivered. Your iPhone 3GS is ready to be freed. All you need to do is get the Pwnage Tool 3.1.3 but only if the phone was jailbroken when running iPhone OS 3.0 or 3.0.1. That shouldn’t be a problem, should it?
Of course, we don’t recommend in any way that you jailbreak and/or unlock your iPhone, or any other phone for that matter. It’s solely up to you to take such decision, and before you do, take a personal moment and consider what could happen if you messed up your phone. I bet the manufacturer and your carrier will not be happy to hear about your hacking activities. Those of you that still want to jailbreak, follow the link below at your own expense!

Not too long ago we let you know that Griffin’s latest iTrip would ship alongside an app controller that will be offered on the App Store.
Well, it seems that to make such a thing easier to consumers Apple has snuck in the feature that will allow connected accessories to prompt you if you want to download the associated app, as you can see above. This is compared to having to sort through the seemingly endless list of apps looking for the correct one.
Let’s see what other accessory manufacturers utilize this feature.

It’s not the first time we hear that the future Apple Tablet will run Mac OS instead of a better version of the iPhone OS. But this time it looks like there’s proof to support these accusations. Apple has included a bunch of new features in Snow Leopard which are very touch friendly. The OS X soft keyboard has been redesigned to fit your fingers and there’s a new scrolling layout for dock stacks which offers big enough icons ready to be touched. Why would anyone need those touch-friendly features if the tablet was to run iPhone OS? Anyone from Apple cares to explain?
Oh and if you’re looking for the useless (for now) large soft keyboard, here’s where you need to go:
* Go to System Preferences>Keyboard
* Click the box “Show Keyboard & Character Viewer in menu bar”
* Go to the menu bar at top right and click “Show Keyboard Viewer”

In case you though yesterday’s picture was the Apple tablet than we have to correct your thoughts. The tablet in the picture is in fact the real thing. That’s right, this is the Apple tablet at least until tomorrow when we’re going to see another leaked shot of it which will probably look very different from this one.
Either way Apple, we don’t really want to know more about your denied but soon-to-come tablet. We already know how a tablet looks like and we’ve already seen it in miniature. People call it the iPhone 3GS nowadays. And we already know it will sport some sort of tweaked, pimped out iPhone OS. That’s why we promise to act really surprised when Steve Jobs will unveil it later this fall.
Now let’s focus on this photoshopped image right here. The tablet seems to run Mac OS X in the background. So what happened to that iPhone OS tablet version? What do you think folks? Do we smell a rat?
Wonder what the tablet will look like early tomorrow morning…

The day is finally here, Apple has officially announced that iPhone OS 3.0.1 is ready for download. There isn’t much to go along with this update other than the fact that it fixes an SMS exploit that could have potentially given hackers control of your phones.
Anyways, to pick up version 3.0.1 just sync your handset with iTunes and update it like you normally would.

AdMob has a new report in and this time it’s taking a look at the geographic distribution of the iPhone and its little brother, the iPod touch. It also focuses on the increased popularity of the Android OS over Windows Mobile but let’s take a closer look at everything!
First things first then! Let’s look at how AdMob analyzed everything. The company offers mobile ads and its quite popular with developers. Therefone it analyzed data from over 16.8 million unique iPhones and iPod touch players which browsed over 7,000 web sites and used over 2,500 apps in June.
That’s how AdMob to reach some of the conclusions we have already presented. But let’s start with some numbers! 54% of iPhone and iPod users are based in the USA while the remaining 46% are spread around the globe. France, Germany and the UK have all more than 5% of all iPod and iPod touch units. 38% of the total iPhone OS devices in North America is represented by iPod touch units. Apple has sold over 45 million iPhones and iPod touch units worldwide which means that about 13 million iPhones and 12 million iPod touch players arrived in the USA alone. These are some impressive numbers and we expect them to grow as soon as the iPhone 3GS will hit other markets.
Next is Android, another hot OS which is also gaining momentum. According to AdMob:
Requests from the Android OS increased 25 percent month over month. Android has five percent worldwide OS share and is slightly ahead of Windows Mobile for the first time.
It looks like Android users like to browse a lot more and use a lot of apps compared to Windows Mobile users.
