A new Canadian carrier is getting ready to launch the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Virgin Mobile Canada announced that Apple’s smartphones are on their way and consumers will be able to get them in the following months. The carrier’s position is official and the short press release that you can find at the read link below shows that Virgin Mobile Canada is going to undoubtedly sell the iPhones in the near future. What the company fails to mention are prices and actual arrival dates so we’ll be waiting for a longer press release from Virgin Mobile Canada in the following months.

Before you read on please make note that this is only a rumor and has not been confirmed in any way shape or form — BGR brings us news that AT&T and Apple are pondering whether or not to launch an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $99 that would be presumably replace the current $99 iPhone 3G.
Like I said, there isn’t very much evidence to back this up but if this goes down it would reportedly be a move to combat the DROID handsets popping up on Verizon.

Orange UK has just announced their intentions to carry Apple’s fabled iPhone 3G and 3GS at some point later this year. It seems that O2’s iPhone exclusivity deal has reached its end and marks the second carrier in the UK to officially carry the handset.
From this announcement you can expect to see a price war of sorts as Orange UK and O2 battle it out to see who can give consumers the most wallet-friendly iPhone experience.

As you can see, this case is nothing more than card board box fashioned to perfectly fit your iPhone with holes cut out for the silence, volume and hold buttons, in addition to the camera.
What’s even better is you can opt for a saying on the back of the case that will be written by Case-mate in Sharpie. Honestly though, priced at just $0.99, how can you go wrong?

What you see above is a reportedly leaked document from Rogers that gives us a hint of what is to come of the iPhone 3G. As you can see, Rogers is apparantly gearing up to launch an 8GB iPhone 3GS that will most likely sell for a great dell less than the 16GB model, like as in a $99 price point.
But why would they do this? Well, buzz suggests that Apple will launch the 8GB iPhone 3GS to replace the dated iPhone 3G that currently sells for $99. We’ll keep you posted once an official announcement happens.

Now here’s something you don’t see everyday — Pictured above is an iPhone 3G that reportedly got too hot and decided to explode.
As you can see, the explosion was powerful enough to leave a crater in the car seat which Gizmodo points out, looks like the work of a meteor.
Is this one true? Who knows, but if so, Apple may be looking at a law suit.

This time it’s on folks! Special iPhones are being manufactured for the Chinese market as we speak. By special we mean that the Chinese iPhones will officially not have any support for WiFi connectivity.
Foxconn is making the Chinese iPhone 3G and people say the phones lack an actual WiFi module. So it looks like Apple will not software lock the feature after all. By removing the module there’s no risk that some hackers will find a way to reactivate that WiFi feature.
Should we assume that Apple is ready to sell the WiFi-less iPhone 3G in China? Has the official agreement been signed?

If you though that AT&T’s $79 refurbished iPhone 3G offer was pretty hot then you should see Fido’s refreshed iPhone 3G offer. The Canadian carrier is ready to offer refreshed 8GB iPhone 3Gs to its customers for just CAD $49 (that’s a little over $43 USD). 16GB iPhone 3Gs are available for just CAD $99, just in case you were wondering.
What’s the difference between refreshed and refurbished you might ask? Well those refreshed units have been returned within a few days after their activation. Are they better or worse than refurbished units? You’ll be the judge of that! And when you go to Fido for a cheap iPhone 3G, keep in mind that you’ll still have to get a new contract to be able to take advantage of the new promotional price.

I know a guy that would install Windows 95 on any computer he’d ever use. In his world, that’s the best OS available. Not that I have anything against Windows 95 but that OS should better rest in peace. And it shouldn’t be in any case installed on an iPhone!
The iPhone 3G above has been jail-broken and someone installed Windows 95 on it. Just to prove that you definitely shouldn’t run Win 95 on your iPhone you should know that boot time alone takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Imagine trying to make things run on such a phone. But don’t let me bore you to death with simple words when the video above has all the hot stuff.
Coming up next is running Windows XP on the iPhone 3GS. We’ll be waiting for this gruesome combo too!

iPhone 3GS owners will not be able to unlock their handset right now but everyone still playing with an iPhone 3G that’s running iPhone 3.0 can now unlock it. The iPhone Dev Team has clear instructions for you so all you have to do is backup your phone and use Ultrasn0w to unlock it:
1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
3. Run Cydia or Icy
4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy. That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”! If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
8. Enjoy

Apple has finally decided to offer the iPhone straight from its online store. That’s not such a big news since you are already able to purchase the phone online from AT&T’s store. However it must be noticed that Apple is really doing everything to get rid off the current iPhone 3G stock. June is getting closer and closer and Apple will surely want to sell new iPhones in the very near future.

Goldstriker has struck the right cords (for a previleged few) many times before, but it seems that they have outdone themselves this innings. They have now replaced the whole body (not just the plating, mind) of an iPhone 3G with solid 22-carat gold and added 53 exquisite VVS1 diamonds to the Apple logo found on the back. It took four craftsmen and months of intricate work by hand to finally get this iPhone blinged out and needless to say, all that hard work don’t come cheap. This special iPhone 3G goes for no less than a staggering £22,995, roughly $34k or a kid’s college education. We are not sure if this includes an early shot at iPhone 3.0 OS, but who cares as long as it shiny all over right?

Jailbreaking your iPhone 3G might be cool and all, but it would be more fun if you are doing it without voiding your warranty. Sadly, Apple doesn’t agree with this and is always ready to unleash its wrath upon those who dare to do it, but with MacWorld - and hopefully a new iPhone - looming in the near future, times sure seem to have changed. Buy.com is now offering up 16GB “never-locked” iPhone 3Gs that come with genuine Apple-certified warranty and what’s more, these devices can be updated to the latest firmware without the fear of being locked down by the company. But freedom always comes with a price and Buy.com is demanding a hefty $799.99 for it. Wonder what AT&T has to say about this.

If Apple clearing its stocks and this can’t convince you that the company has the next iPhone cooking, we are not sure what else can, unless you would like to hear about it from El Jobso himself. Similar to what we saw last year before the iPhone 3G debuted, Apple is now amassing a huge number of 8Gb NAND flash chips, and when we say a huge number, think 100 million, which is twice the amount grabbed by Apple last year. A big part of these 8-gigabit chips (combined to achieve the gigabytes of memory that ultimately make their way to our cell phones) are to come from Samsung, straining the flash chip market almost dry for other vendors. Does this mean that we will see a 32GB iPhone come June? If that’s true, we hope that that won’t be the only improvement over the iPhone 3G we are looking for.

The Canadians from Fido have started a new iPhone 3G promotion in order to get rid of the handset before the new version will arrive. Fido offers “refreshed” iPhone 3G phones which are basically handsets that have been returned before 15 days or 30 minutes of talk time. A refreshed iPhone 3G will cost you $149.99 if you choose the 8GB version and $249.99 if you choose the 16GB version. That’s right, you get $50 off no matter what version you choose but you’re also going to get six months off the regular warranty. So what say you Canadian shoppers? Will you get refreshed iPhones or will you wait for the next thing?

Let’s face it folks, it’s that time of the year again. Remember last year how the Internet was buzzing with all sorts of rumors regarding Apple’s iPhone 3G? Well get ready to witness it once again as all signs indicate that a third-generation concept is going to be unveiled in June.
Today we have one more iPhone concept. As you can see it’s even flatter and slimmer than the previous version. Other than that it looks pretty much exactly as its predecessor. Can we expect a better camera? How about a front facing one? And isn’t it too thin? We’ll keep monitor the web for other iPhone third-gen concepts as we have a little over two months to go until the next iPhone will be revealed.

Apple is ready to get rid of its current iPhone stock and it will take all the necessary steps to do so. That’s why it has started to sell the iPhone 3G without a contract, just as we heard that AT&T intends to do. The 8GB model will sell for $599 while the 16GB version will sell for $699, just like we told you. The only difference is that you won’t have to get an AT&T contract with it. That means you will be able to activate it under your favorite carrier without having to unlock it first.

Last year we’ve seen iPhone stocks depleting around the world and it looks like this year will happen again. We hear that Fido is getting ready to clear its iPhone 3G inventory in early April. After that Fido won’t refresh its inventory which probably means the Canadians are waiting for the new iPhones to arrive. Does this mean Fido customers won’t be getting any iPhone 3Gs soon? Well the 16GB version will be discontinued but the 8GB version will still be available.

Is it just me or isAT&T going to launch a new iPhone soon? By soon we assume sometime in June of course. In the mean time AT&T will do its best to sell its iPhone 3G stock. Starting with March 26th AT&T will sell the 8GB and the 16GB iPhone 3G with no contract for $599 and $699. Besides the no-commitment part AT&T will also not require any in store activation. That means you can get the handset and activate it later on. Unfortunately you won’t be able to buy iPhones in bulk as there’s a “one per line” rule in effect. You’re going to have to own an AT&T line to get a no contract iPhone. Will you get one?
