I’m sure that you have at least heard of the Chumby, a mobile internet device that can be used as a digital picture frame and Internet radio player. You will be pleased to know that its sequel, the Chumby One, has been released today.
The major differences between the two models is that the Chumby One has a faster CPU, more memory for storage, as well as an FM Tuner. Also, the shape is a little more sharper and business-like, rather than the cush exterior of the original Chumby. In fact, the Chumby One looks like it was made by Apple. Anyway, you should be able to get the Chumby One for $99, which is half the price of the original Chumby.
Yes, I know the number after it doesn’t make much sense. Shouldn’t the follow-up be called the Chumby Two?

We’ve seen a lot of mobile phones get leaked today and we have one more for you. In all honesty this one is an Internet tablet and it’s apparently going to be made by Nokia. The N920 in the picture here hasn’t been officially confirmed yet but we hear it’s going to be available at some point next year The N920 will come with features like a 4.13-inch capacitive touchscreen and Maemo 6. Unlike the N900 this one comes without a keyboard or keypad and it’s a lot bigger.
To be fair we also have to assume that we’re looking at a photoshopped picture and, although Nokia will probably launch a N900 successor in the future, it might not look at all like the one we’ve seen today.

A few days ago we heard that that hot Nokia N900 Internet Tablet will be compatible with AT&T but sadly, we have to inform you that such a thing will not happen. Here’s what Nokia had to officially say about 850/1900/2100 MHz WCDMA compatibility:
Regarding the Nokia N900, we have announced a tri-band WCDMA version that utilizes the 900/1700/2100 MHz networks. There have been no announcements regarding a version that supports the 850/1900/2100MHz bands.
You can keep hoping that Nokia will launch a 850/1900/2100 MHz WCDMA but just in case it doesn’t you should consider changing carriers if you really want that N900.

Nokia’s new Internet Tablet, the N900, looked great in those press shots but now that we’ve gotten a glimpse of how it works, it looks even better. In fact, the N900 might just be the hottest phone / MID / Internet Tablet Nokia launched so far.
The video above shows you a thing or two about that new Maemo 5 interface which already looks a lot better than Nokia’s current Symbian S60 5th Edition OS used in its current touchscreen phones. The N900 will be launched sometime in October so you have plenty of time to decide whether or not to get one. But would you pay the full $860 to own one?

German and Italian customers interested in that hot Nokia Internet Tablet, the N900 Rover, can now pre-order it while they wait for Nokia to make the device available. Both German and Italian Nokia web stores have the N900 available for pre-order for just 600 Euros or just about $860, with free shipping. The N900 will be delivered to your home by October 1 or even earlier and we should expect Nokia to open pre-sales in other markets too. It looks like the N900 is even more expensive than the Booklet 3G which is certainly strange. What about you? Interested in getting the N900 or would you rather get the Booklet 3G?

For those of you who didn’t know, Nokia has an in-house operating system that currently co-exists with their more talked about Symbian; Maemo. You may recognize the name as Nokia currently ships a few internet tablets, namely the Nokia 770, N800 and N810, that run the Maemo OS. However, unlike Android, the operating system hasn’t strayed far from it’s developer.
Well today, Optima is proud to announce that they will be the first to bring a non-Nokia branded device, entitled the OP5-E, to market running Maemo. This device features a 4.3-inch resistive touch screen, 806MHz processor, 128MB RAM/256 MB ROM, a microSDHC slot, GPS, EV-DO, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 3.2MP camera and a 2600 mAh battery.
While it’s not currently a phone, despite featuring a design closely resembling the iPhone, the OP5-E is said to be gaining phone and SMS at some point in the future.

That’s right folks, Toshiba has seen the light and the company seems to like the mobile business. According to leaked documents Toshiba will launch devices with Snapdragon processors inside and running Windows Mobile 6.5. Michael Arrington’s project, the CrunchPad Internet tablet, has accidentally or intentionally been leaked to the web. There’s no exact news regarding availability dates but from what it looks like we’re thinking it should arrive soon. But will it really work? Will it make an impression? It looks like Nokia is keeping an eye on other operating systems and it won’t bind its Symbian OS to all its future products. A new Nokia MID is going to arrive in late 2009, possibly before Christmas and it will run on Linux. It’s going to offer you a 4.2-inch touchscreen and a “hidden slide-out keyboard”.
Another device called the Nautilus will also come with a touchscreen on board and a slide-out keyboard. A sensor will extend an withdraw the keyboard and it will also have an ultra-thin keypad. The device might not be sold until 2010 but by the end of the year we should have more information about it.
Nokia might reveal its new Linux software later this year at a Nokia event in Germany. Hopefully by that time we’ll have photos of the new Internet tablet and the Nautilus to show you. Until then all we can do is wonder what will Nokia come up with next in order to keep its impressive marketshare in the mobile business.

After Android on the Nokia N810, it’s now the turn of Debian - hackers over at the Internet Tablet Talk forums have succeeded in installing the Debian distro - complete with OpenOffice, Firefox 3 and other great stuff - onto the N810 portable device. Of course, the paltry processing power on the Nokia gadget means that all the cool-ass applications will be running slow.
