Samsung’s Instinct HD phone has been spotted on Best Buy’s site and we’re already waiting for Samsung to announce it. The phone will offer you features like a 5-megapixel camera with video capture, HD TV-out, WiFi and visual voicemail.

There are no pricing and availability dates yet but it’s being suggested that Samsung will launch the phone sometime before September 26. The phone looks to be a Best Buy exclusive and it will require you to choose an Essential Message & Data plan or an Everything Plan with Data from Sprint when you decide to purchase yours Instinct HD.

Samsung is ready to launch a new version of the Instinct. This time we’re talking about the Instinct S50 codenamed Instinct HD. It looks like we’re seeing an awful lot of HD devices lately, wouldn’t you say? We have no idea when the phone is coming but it should be available pretty soon considering that it has already passed through the FCC with flying colors. The phone, also known as the m850 Dash should be available in Sprint stores at some point in the future and it will offer you EV-DO and Bluetooth connectivity, WiFi support, and a large enough screen to fulfill your HD dreams.

While we wait for more info, please feel free to enjoy the blurriness of the picture above.

  • I don’t know what phone is currently hotter than the Pre so this might just be a silly rumor right here. It seems that Palm is interested in launching a smaller Pre version sometime later this year. Is this Palm’s way to respond to an eventual iPhone nano threat? Or should we call it iPhone lite and expect Verizon to unveil it?

The Mini Pre might be scheduled for a third quarter release and we’re probably going to see Sprint selling it too. The phone will obviously come with webOS on board and it will probably sport Pre-like features. So far this year only Samsung has released a smaller version of one of it’s phones. The smaller Instinct is already available from Sprint so there’s no reason why other companies shouldn’t follow this trend. Would you fancy a Pre Mini?

Samsung Instinct S30 is definitely a great phone and now it’s even more affordable than before. Best Buy Mobile is ready to sell you the smaller Instinct for just $49.99 which is a price which fits well with the current economy state. You will still have to get a contract but the handset is $80 cheaper than what Sprint is going to charge for it starting with this Sunday. Will you get one?

    New Samsung Instinct S30 Revealed

A new Instinct is coming from Samsung, the S30 which is a compact version of the initial phone. In case you are wondering, the phone in the picture here is the Instinct Mini, a handset we have talked about in the past. The phone hasn’t been officially unveiled yet but Samsung has conveniently slipped the picture above. Samsung is probably anxious to release it since the Pre and the new iPhone are coming this summer. Are we to expect it to arrive from Sprint like its bigger brother? Should we count on a release real soon?

samsung-instinct-mini-ofc-1 Interestingly, Samsung Korea unveiled the new Instinct S30 or Instinct Mini with a Sprint Logo. Instinct S30 / Instinct Mini / Sprint M810 (whatever you may call it) is a graceful model and is much better than its predecessors. The company has been successful in resolving many software issues found in the earlier Instinct models. The Samsung Korea’s official site is still quite on its specifications. Following my ‘Instincts’, I feel Sprint and Samsung USA will roll out this model any moment from now.

  • Seems like Samsung has thought better and instead of belittling its own best-selling device, it has decided to simply name Instinct’s upcoming little brother as the S30, which recently passed through the FCC scanner when we knew it as the Instinct Mini.  But other than the name, Samsung will be making no major changes in the feature set.  So, we wouldn’t be surprised if we found a 2-megapixel cam, microSD/microSDHC support, a music player, a somewhat downsized touchscreen display, and CDMA with EV-DO support on the network side when it is announced officially.  The whole package also goes for more rounded edges with the lower part becoming a bit more thicker than the Samsung Instinct.

There is still no word on pricing or availability, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.

Sprint will be offering its customers quite a few cell phones during the following months and I am not talking about the Pre only. So let’s see what the rumors say, shall we?

The Palm Treo Pro will launch around March 15. Yes, that’s right, the phone has been delayed again so we’re not sure what will happen with it. The Rumor 2 from LG is scheduled to be available in black and blue starting with the middle of March. The LG LX370 slider should arrive in April or May. The Samsung Instinct Mini is a smaller, slimmer Instinct which Sprint will launch on April 19. What’s the matter Samsung, did you buy into all that iPhone nano rumors and created a nano Instinct? The HTC Cedar is a QWERTY candybar phone which will arrive sometime in June. But we’re all going to be craving for a Palm Pre from Sprint, no matter how interesting some of the devices I have already mentioned are.

How about getting a Sony Ericsson W350 for that special Valentine of yours? What if it would come in Pink? Would you get one? Well the picture here shows a Soft Pink version of the W350, so go ahead and get it. It will probably sport the same features as the regular W350 but then again you’d be buying one because of the pretty pink color it comes in. And while we’re thinking of pink handsets ready for Valentine’s Day, what phone would you pick? The pink Samsung Instinct or the pink Sony Ericsson W350?

We knew Samsung was going to deliver Android handsets this year but we didn’t know for sure what carrier was going to get them. Now we hear Samsung confirmed their Android smartphones and they are indeed destined to arrive in the USA via Sprint and T-Mobile. Are we going to get an Omnia- or Instinct-like Samsung Android smartphone soone?

Is the MWC 2009 going to be the place where Samsung is unveiling the new handsets? We’ll see about that in February.

With all the smartphones we’ve seen in the last couple of months the Samsung Instinct feels like such an old phone despite being launched only last June. For a while it was quite a cool phone but then the iPhone came and then the G1 and the Storm. And we’ve had quite a few other interesting phones in between these ones.

Today we have a new Instinct from Sprint. Well technically it is still the same device inside, only with a different pink case to cover everything. Just in time for Valentine you say? Well yes, just in time! Will it have the same problems we’ve seen with the earlier model? That remains to be discussed later.

What will changed is the price. For a limited period of time you will get the pink and the black version for just $99 with a two years contract and a $100 rebate.

In case you don’t want and iPhone from Best Buy you might want to try on a new Palm Treo Pro 850 or a pink Samsung Instinct. The phones come with Sprint subscriptions but go right ahead and have some. Actually wait a minute, Best Buy has the phones on paper but we don’t know when the they are actually going to hit. The estimated in-stock date is December 8th but we’ve passed that day about two weeks ago.

You do remember the Samsung Instinct don’t you? It hasn’t been in the news for quite a while, and last time I checked it out people were still reporting various issues with the software. But Sprint managed to release yet another firmware update which might fix some of the present bugs in the Instinct.

The update version BH29 has been available OTA for a few days now. The main fix appears to be browser related. The browser has received a totally new codebase which will hopefully deal with poor navigation and page rendering. Besides the browser fix, the BH29 is said to resolve 249 tickets open since the previous release, the BF30.

Looking for some feedback from Instinct owners. Was it good for you?

Sprint is getting ready to launch the HTC Touch Diamond in just a little less than 10 days. In recent light of Sprint’s Samsung Instinct data problems which are affecting quite a few of Sprint’s subscribers we can only but ask ourselves if future HTC owners are going to have similar software issues.

We did tell you about the Instinct in the past and no matter how many firmware upgrades Sprint rolled out, it never completely solved all issues.

We received a tip from one of our readers, a Sprint employee, which you will find below. Following the steps he mentions might get your phone working at full capacity. But then again it might not do it for you. As always, back up your data first and seek proper guidance from Sprint staff.

It’s not the first update we see from Sprint in their attempt to correct data problems for their Samsung Instinct. We’ve heard various complaints regarding various aspects of the Instinct applications and they keep coming in despite any previous updates.

After improving Bluetooth audio volume, web browser, signal and battery indicators in the recent update, Sprint will be releasing individual updates for various applications. These updates will include Picture Mail, the web browser, Sprint TV and Radio, Sprint Navigation, Sprint Email, Sprint Music Store, Visual Voicemail and Mobile Sync.

Expect to see various notifications to update these apps in the near future as they will not come out all in one single package.

Canadians will finally get the Samsung Instinct from Bell. The popular phone which had great sales in the USA already from Sprint is ready to be purchased in Canada too.

Pricing is similar to what we’ve seen so far. If you’re in Canada, Bell will sell you an Instinct handset for $129.95 with a three year contract. Should you choose a two year contract you’ll have to pay $279.95. While we’re at it, there’s also a one year contract available. The Instinct costs $429.95 in this case. Finally if you were only looking for device without any plans what so ever, well Bell is going to let you do that too. A free handset will cost you just $479.95.

    Samsung Instinct Firmware Update

The Instinct was a big Sprint hit before the iPhone hit the market. The Instinct came in with a nice price tag and lots of features. Almost ready to beat the 3G iPhone. But things weren’t going so smooth as multiple Sprint customers are reporting problems when it comes to Sprint data availability. Maybe that’s why it was decided for the Instinct to receive a firmware update. Or maybe not, since Samsung is going to release a more significant update later this year.

From what we know so far, the Samsung Instinct that hit the stores two weeks ago had tremendous success and got sold almost immediately. For Sprint the Instinct is a huge success. There were reported shortages of the instinct in some locations. The Instinct just became the fastest selling EVDO device in Sprint’s history. We don’t have any numbers to back that up yet but they should emerge at some point.

And now you can even win some prizes with your Samsung Instinct. The first 1000 videos to be accepted and posted to YouTube will get $20 each while one big winner will be drawn, and a lucky video will win $10,000. You should be making a home “Sell Out” video and just upload it to YouTube. The contest ends on August 1st so you better hurry. For more information check out Sprint’s official site and Instinct site. And good luck to all contestants!

    Samsung Instinct Stocks Depleated

The Samsung Instinct has gone on sale last week and it appears that Sprint have hit a homer with this one. The Instinct is a very good smartphone, with a lot to offer to any customer. Not to mention the great price Sprint is offering. You’ll end up with a $129.99 phone after rebates and signing up for a two year plan.

According to Sprint’s President of Wireless Division John Garcia, the Instinct is going to be their biggest ever EVDO selling handset:

We had high expectations going into the launch so our initial order to Samsung was the largest for any Sprint EVDO handset to date. The strong early response tells us that wireless customers recognize Instinct as a highly-innovative and convenient touch-screen device combined with the fast speeds available on the largest national mobile broadband network. In the first few days of availability, many Instinct devices were purchased by existing customers upgrading their wireless device - we thank our customers for their endorsement of this device, our Simply Everything pricing plan and our company.

Apparently some Sprint locations sold off all their Insticts, with shortages reported in more areas. And apparently Samsung is fully working to produce more handsets as we speak.

Ok, but how many Instincts did Sprint have? Three? Four? This news will have been so much better if Sprint would have announced selling 100k handsets already. I mean I know they’re going for more publicity and I do believe they sold many Instincts. But how many? And what are those regions with reported shortages? How’s your local Sprint store doing?

Well, that just about wraps up the Instinct in a nice little package now that we have the missing piece that was the release date. Now, if only we knew its price! Anyways, as we previously reported, the iPhone-cloning GPS-toting Samsung Instinct brings a big 3.1-inch touchscreen display, Sprint TV, and some EV-DO Rev. A magic. You won’t be missing out on Samsung’s famous haptic feedback either. Now if only we were privy to the pricing information before it hits the shelves on June 20th…
