Mobcast Inc. dips its hands in the iPhone app mix with the launch of the Photo Aquarium App, a game application for the iPhone and iPod Touch, on 31 March 2009.

Photo Aquarium, which is also available from the major US cell phone company, Verizon Wireless, is a popular cell phone game that simulates the care and feeding of tropical fish, using the users’ photos taken with their cell phones as food. mobcast inc.’s 31 March release of Photo Aquarium for the iPhone includes a wide range of additional features.

Photo Aquarium is a game application, where the users raise tropical fish, using the iPhone’s camera functionality. Whenever the users run the game’s Feed the Fish command, the game activates the camera and then uses whatever photograph the users take as feed for tropical fish, all seamlessly and within the context of the game.

To enable gameplay on the iPod Touch as well, the fish will happily eat any images stored on the iPod Touch, too. As the beautiful tropical fish swim against a background of the users’ favorite photos, the iPhone becomes a decorative accessory for the interior of the users’ home or office.

After the celebrated announcement of the iPhone OS 3.0, experts are predicting a significant surge as far as in A2P MMS campaigns from mobile marketers, advertisers and content providers.

“All along, interest in A2P MMS has been growing rapidly. With Apple’s announcement today, the A2P MMS flood gates will soon open - not only to the iPhone but across all handsets and carriers as well. The timing of the announcement couldn’t be better because it coincides with improvements in A2P MMS interoperability and our enhanced platform features for MMS deployment,” said Eicher.

Skycore delivers messaging and content primarily using MMS since nearly every phone launched during the past several years has been MMS enabled – notably excluding the iPhone. Skycore had to develop a work-around for the iPhone where, instead of an MMS, it would deliver content using SMS with Web links.

One of the major drawbacks of SMS is its 140-160 character message limit. Alternatively, MMS enables messaging thousands of characters, including hyperlinks, along with images, audio and video.

“With the iPhone supporting MMS, marketers will be able to push a ubiquitous, rich, multimedia experience directly to the inbox. And although SMS is currently ubiquitous and less expensive than MMS, the gap is closing and experienced mobile marketers are starting to integrate MMS into their upcoming campaigns,” added Eicher.

    Nokia 6205a.jpeg

The yet-to-be officially announced Nokia 6205 could be seen with these photos. The Nokia 6205 will be an entry-level handset exclusively for Verizon Wireless. There is not much known information about the Nokia 6205 just yet, although the handset will reportedly feature 1x data and no EV-DO, external music controls, and basic VGA camera with flash. Since the images on the screen look small, Phone Arena surmises that it probably doesn’t have QVGA resolution. In all, the clamshell Nokia 6205 seems to be a very basic (hopefully) low-end phone.

    Another pic after the jump.
