The Palm Pixi has been launched officially this Sunday and Sprint customers can get it for $99.99 after rebates and with a 2-year new contract. But other retailers, like Amazon, are ready to offer the smartphone for a lot less. Amazon is going to sell the Pixi for just $25 but you will still have to get a new contract from Sprint.
So should you buy the Pixi now? Why not wait a while as I am sure the phone will be available for free on contract real soon. After all there are hotter phones out there worth purchasing with new contracts like the HTC Hero, the Motorola Droid, the BlackBerry Storm2, the HTC Droid Eris or the Samsung Behold II. What phone are you going to purchase these holidays?

We have no idea when the Dragon is actually coming but it looks like the handset is currently being tested by Google. In fact rumors say that “senior Android guys” are currently carrying the Dragon/Passion and testing it. According to TechCrunch the phone should arrive in the following months and it’s supposed thinner than the Droid or the iPhone 3GS. Also of interest is the 1GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm which is rumored to power all our mobile needs on an HTC Dragon.
The phone hasn’t been officially confirmed by either Google or HTC. No carrier has leaked any plans regarding the Dragon so we might not see it in stores this year. But the fact that Android execs are currently playing with the Dragon/Passion is all we need so far. We know the phone exists and we hope to see it, if not this year then maybe early next year.

Is Sprint feeling Verizon’s blow when it comes to Android phones? The HTC Droid Eris sold by Verizon for $99.99 is basically a different HTC Hero version which also happens to be a lot cheaper.
But fear not, Sprint customers! Best Buy has decided to sell the HTC Hero for $99.99 thus matching Verizon’s offer. The price is available after instant discounts and with a new 2-year Sprint contract. What do you say? Does the Hero look interesting yet again? And just in case you forgot, the Hero will receive the Android 2.0 update at some point in the future so getting one, especially at $99.99 sounds like a very good choice.

There’s no official arrival date mentioned by HTC but it looks like the Passion has been already been spotted out in the wild. The Passion aka the Dragon is HTC’s next Android phone and from what we know so far the device is going to be really impressive. The Passion will make us forget the Hero and it will probably go head to head against the Droid easily. From what we can see in the leaked picture the Passion comes with HTC’s Sense UI on top of Android. Other rumored specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera and Android 2.0. What do you say? Are you interested in the Passion already?

The Droid and the Droid Eris have been available for almost five days now and from the looks of it the phones are already bringing in some serious cash. The most popular of the both is definitely the Motorola Droid and you must surely agree that the Droid is an exceptional Android machine.
But neither of them is perfect. In fact there are quite a few issues that need to be fixed so both the Droid and the Droid Eris will receive an update in the near future. And it’s not customers complaining about the phones but it’s Verizon. The carrier has already found various things that need attention and it has leaked no less than twelve pages filled with complaints (five for the Droid and seven for the Droid Eris.) Everything will be sorted out by two firmware updates that are supposed to arrive in December and January. We don’t have any exact dates for you so in the mean time feel free to tell us what’s wrong with the Droid from your point of view.

November 6 is the day when the Droid will be available in Verizon Stores. In case you want to avoid hassles and lines, you can always pre-order the Droid from Best Buy. But if you’re decided to walk into an actual Verizon Wireless store and get your Droid from there then you should know that Big Red plans to open stores at 6AM on November 6. The hour is not confirmed yet but we expect Verizon to take all the measures necessary in order to accommodate as many customers as possible next Friday. So what do you say, are you ready for an early start?
And don’t forget, the Droid Eris will also be available on Friday. You’ll actually have to get this phone from a Verizon store since it’s not available for pre-order.

Stop dreaming about an HTC HD2 capable to run Android. HTC will not make it for you as the company wants to give Windows Mobile a fighting chance. According to Peter Chou, HTC could make an HD2 smartphone running Android but it won’t as it wants to “get excitement about Windows Mobile back.” I estimate excitement to return sometime next year when Microsoft will launch the all-new Windows Mobile 7.
In the mean time we will focus on Android phones, iPhones and new BlackBerry handsets out there. Wouldn’t you agree? And don’t worry, HTC will launch new Android phones soon, even if they won’t look like the HTC HD2.

HTC has announced today via Twitter that their Hero handset will be getting an Android 2.0 update. There was no word on exactly when we will be seeing the update but chances are it will be when HTC finished tweaking the Sense UI for the updated OS.
Below is the tweet:

The HTC Hero will soon fade away from our minds as the Motorola Droid will be the hottest phone in town. But that doesn’t mean that HTC will let that happen without a fight. The company has confirmed that Android 2.0 will be coming soon to HTC Hero owners. Here’s what HTC had to say:
Yes, we are working on an Eclair update for the HTC Hero. Because Eclair is a significantly enhanced release, it will require some time to update Sense for this new version of the Android OS. Please be patient while we work to provide you with a tightly integrated experience like the one you are already enjoying on your Hero.
That magic HTC Sense UI is also going to be ported to Android 2.0 in the near future and all the Hero versions out there will get it. Just check back with your carrier for more information once Eclair becomes available from HTC.

The HTC Droid Eris is the other hot Android phone coming from Verizon. And Verizon seems to like Android all of a sudden as it is ready to offer them both at once, starting with November 6. So how much will the Droid Eris cost? If you’re willing to get a new 2-year Verizon Wireless contract then you’re going to get the HTC Droid Eris for just $99.99.
It looks like this HTC Android phone is going to be the cheapest phone ready to hit the U.S. so stay tuned for official confirmation. Although it’s understandable if you’re going to go for the Motorola Droid instead, the Droid Eris is perfect for those of you that have a budget to watch.

This past week we talked about the HTC Droid Eris which is an exclusive for Verizon Wireless on the US, and is suppose to be launched on the 6th of November.
But there is a recent rumour which can be considered bad news, in other words, the Droid Eris will make use of a 528MHz Qualcomm CPU and Android 1.5, which is less powerful the other HTC devices on the market. The reasons for using a “weaker” processor and version 1.5 of Android are still unknown, but maybe the prices are somehow related… We’ll keep you updated when the device rolls out.

An interesting piece of news has popped all over the Internet. It looks like the Droid is not just the name of a single phone coming from Verizon but it’s going to be a line of phones. That’s why the Sholes has changed names so abruptly to the Droid. The phone in the picture is supposed to be the HTC Droid Eris also known as the HTC Desire.
The Droid Eris is supposed to arrive on November 6 but evidently we don’t have any pricing for now. We also have to confirm all of these before we get all excited about a new phone line. Because it looks like the Droid might be an Android phone line about to arrive from Verizon.

In case you don’t want a new Android phone and you’re rather interested in a new Windows Mobile 6.5 phone then you should go to an AT&T store today. The HTC Tilt 2 is now available for sale. The Tilt 2 will be available for $349.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate and a new 2-year contract. The phone is just a little more expensive than the CLIQ but it does have some interesting features that can’t be ignored: WVGA touchscreen display, full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.2-megapixel camera and Microsoft latest mobile OS running in the background. So what do you say folks? Are you ready to purchase your first Windows Mobile 6.5 phone? Or would you rather wait a while longer until the HTC HD2 becomes available?

We have talked about the Motorola Droid in the past weeks and now we have a few official pictures of the device for you. And from what we hear, the phone is one of the best Android handsets to walk the earth. At least until know. Motorola seems to have developed a winner phone and Verizon Wireless customers will be able to enjoy it soon.
Let’s take a look at some specs before we jump to more photos:
Doesn’t the Droid sound exciting? It might just become the Motorola phone to beat in the near future. The handset will probably be the fastest and thinnest Android slider phone out there when Verizon decides to launch it. HTC should definitely start working on an Android phone capable of similar features.

What you see above is a picture of an unannounced HTC developed Android powered handset. Unfortunately, we have virtually no details as to what this handset is called, what carrier it will appear on or what the specs are.
From the pictures we could tell that it obviously features a touchscreen, some face buttons and some sort of camera.
We’ll keep you posted as more information is made known.

A few days ago we let you know that the HTC HD2 would be available unlocked in the UK for around $740. Well, not only is that a steep price but it gives us no hint to North American availability.
However, the above image has hit the web that lets us know that the HD2 is on its way to T-Mobile with its 4.3-inch touch screen and Snapdragon processor.
Is this image to be believed?

The HTC Touch Pro2 and the HTC Snap are among the first smartphones out there that will be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5. We have been aware of all this for a few months but it’s only now that we are able to confirm it. Both phones are upgradeable, at least in theory, to Windows Mobile 6.5. However, depending on where you purchased your Touch Pro2 or Snap phone from, you might not be able to use the upgrade yet. Minor things like carrier branding or phone locking could prevent you from getting the much needed upgrade right now. If that happens then go ahead and complain to customer service about it. You should definitely be able to enjoy Windows Mobile 6.5 no matter what carrier sold you the Touch Pro2 or the Snap. After all, that’s why you purchased these phones in the first place, right?

Are you looking for an unlocked HTC HD2 already? The phone will be out in Europe in the following months. First O2 will launch it in the UK this month while Vodafone will launch it in Spain in December. U.S. customers are only going to get it at some point in the first quarter of the next year but that doesn’t mean you have to be waiting that long to get it.
The HD2 will be also available off contract starting with November 11. The unlocked phone will sell for around $740 in the U.K. which is not a bad price considering what the HD2 can do.
Yes, you can purchase the phone and use it in the USA but you will have to settle for EDGE connectivity only. The unlocked HD2 will not be able to offer 3G connectivity if you decide to use it in the USA. Therefore, if you want a 3G HTC HD2 you’ll have to wait until 2010 to purchase one.

The phone so many Android lovers were waiting for, the HTC Hero, is now officially available for purchase from Sprint stores. The carrier has finally launched its first Android smartphones and we’re waiting for more to follow. The Hero is available for $179 after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a new 2-year contract. The phone is also available from Best Buy stores and in case you’re thinking about paying the full price for it, that’s going to cost you around $479. What do you say? Ready to get the Hero now?
