Asus has just announced the P565 smartphone which comes with an 800 MHz processor, a 2.8 inch VGA screen and the Glide interface. There’s 3G via HSDPA, UMTA 2100, EDGE/GPRS, GSM 900/1800/1900 and Class 10 support. Besides the cool processors it has a 256MB of Flash and 128MB of DDR SDRAM available. There’s a microSD slot for memory expansion and GPS support. The 3 megapixels camera will come in handy and there’s Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional to power everything up.
Now when you put this baby on a runway against the HTC Touch Diamond, which needs no further introduction, you will be surprised to see Asus win. What do you think about the videos here? It looks like Asus’ CPU pwned the Diamond.

The HTC Touch Diamond was supposed to be available from Verizon in October. Then people said December is the month when Verizon’s subscribers will get. Well it looks like Verizon will delay it even more. January or sometime next year, that’s when you will be able to get the Diamond. Or so the latest rumors say. We’re hoping these rumors are false and that you’ll be able to order one from Santa this December. And in case they do turn out to be true, then you can simply get a different smartphone this season. Maybe a whole Storm?
thx Trevor

Sprint wants apparently to make some money of medical students. The carrier has discount Windows Mobile phones for the students of the Louisville University. Besides being cheaper, the smartphones will give you access to the university’s email and address book system and to various medical applications.
Sprint will offer various handsets and the HTC Touch Diamond is included. We don’t have specific prices or plans for those medical students yet but Sprint’s initiative isn’t bad at all. We’ll return with numbers and availability dates when they become available.

What a day it was today for HTC! We’ve seen the HTC Touch Diamond get a lighter color, we’ve seen the HTC Touch HD and HTC Touch Viva/Opal get released and now we’re going to take a look at the HTC Touch 3G. The handset is quite promising although the Touch HD would by my choice of the day.

Getting an HTC Touch Diamond without being forced to opt for a two-year plan from Sprint is quite easy. All you have to do is go to a Best Buy and ask for an unlocked HTC Touch Diamond. But you can’t have everything. The price is said to be pretty steep. $700, that’s how much an unlocked HTC Touch Diamond will cost in the Best Buy stores.
Or you can wait until September 14th when Sprint will launch the Diamond. Following the official release we might expect prices to drop in Best Buy stores too.

Yes and no, from the looks of this video. The area around the navi-wheel seems to be able to recognize two finger inputs at the same time with the help of an application called Nav Debug Tool. Not the touchscreen itself like the iPhone/iPhone 3G. Still, a cool hidden feature WMPowerUser.com uncovered that could be exploited by many an app. Watch the video above

According to leaked images and recent rumors circling the web, the HTC Touch Diamond coming from Sprint will not be black but red. Well they might have the black version two when it comes out but a red version would be even more fun.
Don’t worry there aren’t any news about the official release date or about the prices. All we have is a just a color rumor…

It’s only politically correct to announce that HTC has shipped almost 1 million Touch Diamond cell phones since May. After all we did announce Apple’s 1 million mark. That means that sometime soon this month the Diamond will actually sell 1 million units.
While the iPhone 3G sold in 1 million units in three days, the HTC Touch Diamond sold the same amount in about three months from official launch.
HTC planned to sell 2 million Touch Diamonds in 2008 and it looks like they are going to reach their goal especially after opening another plant in Shanghai. Their newest plant will be manufacturing 2.5G+ handsets when it will begin production in October. With it HTC will reach a total of 1 million handsets produced per month which will certainly aid them to get their projected numbers before the year’s end.

While O2 is getting ready to offer the HTC Touch Diamond in the UK, rumors say that Sprint is going to be ready to offer it in August across the seas. According to The China Post, HTC is ready to sell the Diamond through Sprint Nextel in August.
We’ve already seen the Diamond in a CDMA version and we’ve seen it hit the FCC so I guess it’s about time American carriers bring it out to their subscribers. Let’s if Sprint will indeed launch it this month. And I’ll be curious to see if anyone else starts selling the Diamond in the USA.

How do you like the new XDA Ignito from O2? Does it look familiar to you in any way? If you know a thing or two about cell phones you will recognize the HTC Touch Diamond which was spotted in O2’s catalogues for August.
The XDA Ignito is not a new handset. Not at all! It’s the same HTC Touch Diamond which got rebranded especially for O2. However that’s quite a move bringing in the Touch Diamond after launching the iPhone in July. Besides O2, Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile are also selling the Diamond. Only UK’s 3 doesn’t have it yet! But maybe they want to be special like that and not get the Diamond yet.

While Europe and some parts of the world are already enjoying the sensation that is called the Touch Diamond and its blazing fast HSDPA support, HTC took its own sweet time in getting US 3G support on board, but as they say, better late than never, right? The Touch Diamond has now graced the FCC with specs supporting the 850/1900MHz frequency. We don’t have the usual schematics that we usually pull off the FCC, but a simple label is enough to keep us going for now. The rest of the features remains the same with the 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen display, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS, eGPS, microSDHC slot, accelerometer, and a 3.1mpx camera among other equally mind-blowing features. So, let the real touchscreen war begin!

The diamond design on the back isn’t the only thing this pared down P3702 Touch Diamond is losing as the 192MB of RAM found on the original P3700 Touch Diamond has also been cut down to 128MB. How this will affect the device’s video capabilities remains to be seen, as 64MB of that RAM had been off set for the dedicated video accelerator on the original device. Still, a smoother, rounded package for this smooth player is most welcome, but Taiwan seems to be the only place favored for now by HTC. The rest of the specs will remain the same with a 3.2 megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, and that gorgeous 2.8 inch VGA display.

HTC Touch Diamond was rumored to be launched by Sprint and Verizon in the USA. We didn’t have any clear details as to when that was actually going to happen. We’ve seen Telus being the Canadian carrier to offer the HTC Touch Diamond and now we have a confirmed American carrier.
According to a recently leaked slide Sprint is going to launch a new HTC device on September 2nd. HTC Touch Diamond will be sold as the HTC MP6950 so we’re less than 60 days of seeing it in Sprint stores. We don’t have any official prices just yet but at least we have a date to look forward to.

Great news Canada! Here’s one more cool device coming your way. Telus Mobility appears to be first North American carrier to bring the HTC Touch Diamond in Canada. Verizon and Sprint are rumored to deliver the HTC Touch Diamond in the USA, but that’s not confirmed yet. Telus will launch the Touch Diamond somewhere this summer.
The Canadian HTC Touch Diamond will be a CDMA handset in Canada, with EVDO Rev. A support. The HTC will get the Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, GPS and a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera. There’s WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 and 4GB memory inside.
As this HTC will be a CDMA version, the chosen design will be the standard design of the CDMA version, not the regular diamond shaped battery cover. You will get this HTC for $149.99 with a three year agreement and for $449.99 without a contract.

That was the laugh at the day for me. Not because I wouldn’t agree on HTC Touch Diamond being better than the iPhone but because Vodafone UK have posted this on their official HTC web page. Here’s what they say:
Feature rich Windows Mobile 6.1 device utilising HTC’s new Touchflow UI. This device is in a tablet form factor meaning it is touch screen only. The Diamond surpasses the iPhone in all aspects, the key differentiator is the inherent flexibility of the Diamond. It comes loaded with Vodafone Email Plus and the Vodafone Sat Nav program. Launch expected in July
Are the grapes still sour Vodafone? Are you still pissed off that O2 is the only carrier to offer the iPhone in the UK? I mean it would be strange to say the HTC is better than the iPhone like that as long as you are still launching the iPhone in other places. And you would sure love to do so in UK! Am I right or am I right?

The TomTom 7 hasn’t been officially released but apparently a certain number of HTC Touch Diamond have this version of the popular European GPS service. Why not all of them? Why hasn’t the TomTom7 been officially released?
