All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Hop-on has just announced the HOP 1890 ChitterChatter phone for seniors which will arrive from AT&T. The phone will offer GPS tracking, it will have a panic button and it will provide live operator services 24/7.

You can even upload your medical records on the network which, in case of emergency is quite useful. That’s a phone I’d buy for my grandmother.

Peter Michaels, President and CEO of Hop-on says:

If my family is in trouble and needs help, I don’t want to depend the heat of the moment which Trauma Center is closest to us or that they have all essential information. Using the speed and dependability of AT&T’s 3G network, makes the ChitterChatter phone all the more valuable when time is the difference between life and death. If I can’t find my loved one, I want to just point and click and know the location where my family member is at!

Well we can’t argue with that can we? So what’s the price for the 1890? AT&T? Hop-on?

$10 HOP1800 phone from Hop-On

Hop-On’s disposable cell phones have already made it to the European market and it was only a matter of time before they made an appearance stateside. Well, it’s here now and it’s dirt cheap. $10 will get you the display-less, 77-gram HOP1800 which will work on over 40 US GSM carriers including the likes of Cingular, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Hop-On’s Graffiti Wireless. In addition to this, Hop-On offers a rebate of $5 on the cell phones returned for recycling. The front of the phone has a tactile numeric keypad with Braille markings and the missing display is replaced by what seems like a speakerphone. With its 600 mAh Li-ion battery, the HOP1800 is able to provide up to 4 hours of talk time and 150 hours of standby.

Go ahead and grab one at your nearest convenience store if you are looking for a cheap or a temporary alternative for your calling needs.

HOP1900.jpg In this era of disposable everything, I won’t be surprised is something like the Hop-On disposable cell phone dominates the world. Hop-on disposable phones are those screen-less cell phones Rumors were rife recently about said cell phones coming to the European markets. However, Hop-On has just released an official press statement about it. According to the company, over 150,000 pieces of the model are being ordered each day for a few days now. 150,000 pieces a day?! As long as the units are disposed of properly (and recycled), then it’s not so bad.

Hop-On aims to conquer the European and Middle East markets first, then the USA. Well, with the advent of super low cost phones and carriers offering them for dirt cheap to free, I’m not sure what the fighting chance of this disposable cell phone is. But then again, if you’re not keen on signing a contract with a carrier, then perhaps this could be considered a choice.
