  • RIM & HP form Partnership

Research In Motion (maker of BlackBerry) and computer giant Hewlett-Packard have agreed to a strategic alliance to design and sell business software for the popular BlackBerry smartphones. These two companies will produce new software that will increase productivity among business users that need to work while on the go.

One of the new services includes HP’s CloudPrint for BlackBerry smartphones, which will allow users to print emails, photos, documents, and Web pages directly from their devices. HP also plans to launch HP Operations Manager for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server which is software to better manage and control IT. HP said the deal with RIM doesn’t mean that it is planning to abandon its own line of Windows Mobile-based devices

    HP 2133 Mini-Note PC: Only $300

When the HP2133 Mini-Note PC was first launched a few months ago, on April, the price range could go from $500 to $800 depending on your customization. But thanks to Amazon and their good will to make money, the HP netbook is now at sale with a price tag of $300 - less $200 than the original lowest price.

The model available at this price is entitled KR922UT, and the specifications can be a bit low-end, but in the end you get what you pay for. Which means that for $300 you get a VIA C7-M 1GHz processor, plus 512MB of memory RAM, and only 4GB on a built-in flash drive.

As you can imagine, Microsoft Windows would become a bit slow on this machine, and that is why it runs Linux.

  • Computers combined with style is a trend that is becoming more popular, and that is probably why HP decided to create Vivienne. While the netbook was presented in a fashion show a few months ago, in September, it will only hit the shelves later this year, during December.

Being a netbook, the Vivienne Tam Edition will most probably come with a smallish 10-inch display screen, and an Intel Atom processor with 1GB of memory RAM, a 80GB hard-drive, and a SD memory card reader. The specific details are scarce right now, but we’ll keep you updated.

Anyhow, this is definitely a good option for people that enjoy fashion, don’t you think?

  • HP HDX18t: A 18.4-inch laptop

The latest notebook announced by HP is the HDX18t, one of the biggest in terms on screen size because it measures exactly 18.4-inches. Besides being big it will most likely be heave as well when compared to the “normal” ones.

Sporting the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the HP laptop can be considered a real beast if the configuration is done right. Put 4GB of DDR2 RAM memory, two hard-drives of 320GB each making the total at 640GB and a HDTV tuner + remote control – there you have a good entertainment notebook.

As for the graphics drive, it is powered by a NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT that has 512MB, therefore providing a HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

    Other details include:

    - 4 speakers + subwoofer
    - web camera
    - fingerprint reader
    - Ethernat LAN port

  • Hewlett-Packard, the largest computer manufacturer in the world, has recently announced a 14% increase in their net profits for the third quarter. To be more specific, net income rose from $1.78 billion to $2.03 billion, with sales reaching as high as $28 billion.

HP attributes the recent profit increase to new notebook designs, saying it attracted more potential buyers to actually purchase HP machines.

Not too shabby considering all they did was splash some color and pretty designs onto their laptops. Good job HP!
