  • What you see above is MSI’s recently announced GT640 gaming laptop which the manufacturers are touting as the “world’s most powerful gaming notebook”.

Under the hood of this beast is a 1.6GHz Core i7 720QM processor and a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 with 1GB of dedicated RAM. Couple this with a 15.4″ 1680 x 1050 resolution display, up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB of hard drive space, a Blu-ray burner, 2MP webcam, HDMI port, eSATA input and last but not least 7.1 channel audio output.

A new connector is coming to your future cell phones and mobile devices and its solely purpose is to connect said device to HDTVs and display. The Mobile High-Definition Interface Working Group will conceive it soon as various companies have already agreed upon such a bold endeavor. Nokia, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony and Silicon Image will work together to create the new standard. The question is, do we really need a new standard in our lives? After all we already have so many and with Apple’s and Intel’s Light Peak universal connector that’s coming in a couple of years there isn’t much point for devising an HD-only standard. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Sprint just officially announced yesterday that they were gearing up to launch the Samsung Instinct HD on September 27th for $249.99. Now, considering the fact that it is priced so high when compared to the nature of the device you will most likely never get your hands on it.

Thankfully, a YouTube user was nice enough to give us a full hands on preview of the device showcasing features like the preloaded applications (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc) and the location of that HD video out port.

Anyways, check out the video and let us know what you think of it in the comments.

    More Zune HD rumors

On Wednesday we got the first batch of Zune HD rumors that stated there would be 16GB/32GB models along with the fact that it would be coming on August 8th. Despite those remaining unconfirmed, more Zune HD rumors continue to trickle out.

This time around we hear that in addition to the 16GB/32GB models, consumers will also have a 64GB model to choose from at some point down the road. As for a price point, rumor has it the 16GB base model (or whatever size it actually comes in) will be had for anywhere between $249 and $280.

More excitingly, this batch of rumors also points to the fact that the Zune HD will support 720p video through its HDMI out. Again, take these how you will until we have official confirmation from Microsoft themselves.

  • Coming Soon: Xbox 360 Ultimate

    360.jpg

The next-gen console war is going to get a lot more uglier in 2008 by all indications. Nintendo’s Wii has already found its niche with its innovative and cool way of playing games with the Wiimote and Sony PS3’s superior hardware is slowly gaining ground, but where does the Xbox stand in 2008? The Xbox Elite and Premium were great successors but the next big step is yet to come. Sure enough, Microsoft isn’t lazing around but is working on its next version of the Xbox, dubbed “360 Ultimate.” If the rumors are to be believed, the new Xbox 360 Ultimate will boast features such as built-in WiFi, high-definition audio output, 1080p HDMI, 65nm hardware architecture, and a “near-silent” fan. It will also have a monstrous 320GB HDD to accommodate Xbox’s upcoming IPTV service. But the icing on the cake will be the built-in HD-DVD drive, giving Microsoft the much needed edge in the ongoing next-gen format war.

All this and much more will be revealed come this autumn 2008.
