All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

The video above shows everyone how the Palm Pre has already been hacked in order to make it work with a Verizon Wireless SIM card. It’s not exactly an unlocked device since the hacker only managed to get voice and SMS working on Verizon. Data is still a problem:

Only problem is that I can’t get data to work. Apparently webOS is checking to see if the device is provisioned or not before allowing a data session to take place. So my next step would be to somehow bypass this provisioning check.

So hackers around the webOS world, it seems that a full unlock of the Pre is just waiting around the corner. Or you could always wait for Verizon to start selling the Pre, which should happen sometime next year.

T-Mobile Hacked and Confirmed

It looks like T-Mobile suffered yesterday a possible security breach. While everyone was watching the iPhone presentation some crazy guys decided to steal some data. That’s customers data if you’re wondering but T-Mobile says that the stolen data will not jeopardize them:

Regarding the recent claim on a Web site, we’ve identified the document from which information was copied and believe possession of this alone is not enough to cause harm to our customers.

What else do you expect them to tell you? That you’re in danger of losing all that’s left in your bank account? It looks like T-Mobile’s hackers tried to sell the data to T-Mobile competitors and when that didn’t work they put it up for auction. The highest bidder will get, or has already gotten, all that data. T-Mobile had data theft problems in the past if I’m not mistaken! What will happen next?
