All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

On the first of this month we let you know that Motorola was working on an Android powered phone for Verizon reportedly called the Droid. This is supposedly the same device that has been floating around that people have been calling the Motorola Sholes.

Whatever its name is, we already know that it will most likely feature a 600MHz processor along with a 3.7-inch touchscreen, 5MP camera all powered by Google’s Android 2.0 operating system.

Today further rumors have appeared that tell us the device might also feature a 430MHz C64x + DSP + ISP in addition to a PowerVR SGX 530GPU. Hardware wise we’re also looking at a 3.5mm jack, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for expansion.

December 1st is the release date these rumors are pointing at but until we hear official word from Motorola or Verizon, we’re keeping our mouths shut.

Sure, the Palm Pixi was pretty extensively showcased when it was officially unveiled earlier this month but what we haven’t heard of was exactly what processor the device will be running.

Well, today it seems that Qualcomm has come forth to let us know that the Pixi will in fact feature a dual core ARM processor split into 600MHz for application processing and a 400MHz modem processor. Additionally, the Pixi will apparently feature a 200MHz GPU for gaming, a 320MHz multimedia processor.

Unfortunately we still have no solid release date for the Palm Pixi other than sometime before the holiday season but we’ll keep you posted.

Sure, Acer may be slowing down their netbook production for the rest of the year but that doesn’t mean they are going to skimp on other hardware offerings.

What you see above is one of their 8000 Series notebooks which will be made available in 13.3, 13 and 15.6 inch sizes. The entire series features either Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Solo ULV CPUs, 4-8GB of RAM, an 80GB SSD (or 160GB/500GB harddrives) and either a Intel GMA 4500MHD or ATI 4330 GPU. Additionally, the 8000 series will feature a multitouch fingerpad and the option for 3G at a later date.

We’ll keep you posted on a release date and pricing as it’s made known.

Intel is thinking about the future of its netbook/nettop platforms and the famous Atom line has a successor. Pine Trail is the new codename that we’ll have to get used to. The platform will use the Pineview processor which also incorporates the memory controller and the GPU. That translates into a lower power consumption which might result in an even more efficient netbook. The Pine Trail platform will only be available in the last quarter of the year so we have a long wait ahead.
