The timing of the release of this app couldn’t have come at a better time! Cyoshi Games has announced the availability of the Scary App – The iPhone Prank which pretends to be a skills test where users will have to navigate a silver marble through a wooden maze by tilting their iPhone or the iPod Touch. Now you don’t have to finish the game. Hand the game over to another person you want to play the prank on and sucker them into believing you cannot finish all the three levels.
Once the one playing is at level 3, a grotesque screaming face will turn up in the middle of the level which is bound to scare the lights off that person. A harmless prank that is fit for the Halloween season! The Scary App: The iPhone Prank (iLabyrinth)-Screamer is available at the iTunes app store for $0.99.
Here is a demo video of the app:

EA Sports has brought the NBA Live 2010 to the iPhone together with a couple of other marquee games under its wing. Aside from the NBA Live 2010 for the iPhone, it has also announced the availability of Need for Speed Shift and Surviving High School and it looks like a lot of iPhone and iPod Touch owners are going to want these gaming apps on their Apple device as EA acknowledges the phenomena brought about mobile gaming demands.
The NBA Live 2010 for the iPhone will feature all 30 NBA teams and can be played on a full regular season mode and the playoffs. Though the Dynasty mode and Slam Dunk competition will not be included, you just have to be realistic. Just be thankful that NBA Live 2010 is available for the iPhone and the fact that you are still using a mobile version and not really the game console where it was really mean to be played. Ditto with the Need for Speed Shift and Surviving High School!

So much for games and utilities, iPhones can be great aids as well when it comes to monitoring and systemizing your finances. Businessmen or employees who are required to submit expense reports normally have to fix up their receipts and make sure that they are itemized and ready for reimbursement. The Mobile Receipt app from Mitek Systems does just that and is perhaps one reason why it jumped all the way to number one at the App Store.
And while many deny it, one common practice is forging some receipts to so that they can reimburse a higher amount that what they had actually spent. Some get away with it while others get caught. Between the two, you would not want to be caught cheating your way for some extra cash.
But for the people who want an easy way to create and expense report, the Mobile Receipt app is the app for you. No wonder it made its way to the top! The app is available at the App Store for $4.99. You can view a video demo here. http://www.miteksystems.com/OOMPH_webisodes.asp

Samsung has been gaining ground in the recent weeks with its varied mobile handsets and it is only fitting to know that they will be topping all of these releases with their very own App Store. After this, over 30 other countries will also be having their own Samsung App Store. However, only the Omnia II and OmniaLITE handsets can access the app portal for the time being.

For the people who idolize Spiderman or Superman, her e is a new game from HiB that may catch your fancy. Rope ‘n’ Fly Lite for the iPhone is a simple game where you just have to “sling” yourself from one building to another. Basically, it is all about landing properly on the building at the precise moment for about 30 seconds.
It all starts when a superhero clad figure will drop down from the skies and your only task is to make sure he goes from one building to another without falling to the ground. Sounds pretty basic doesn’t it? Well for games like these, it is entertaining. However, timing and groove are likewise essential. One small miscalculation will mean the end of the game. And do remember, you are going to have to be consistent for 30 seconds!

In case you haven’t noticed, a lot of the current crop of iPhone apps and games we see at the iTunes store originate from another platform. In business, this is the same thing. While there are standard software made available for PCs or MACs, the software manufacturers normally tweak them and make them compatible with the handy gadgets such as the iPhones or the iPod Touch.
And for NCH software this is exactly what they are doing at the moment. With the world going mobile, the need to convert or come up with mobile solution software is a need. Being the leading provider of audio, video, business and telephony tools and utilities, NCH made it clear that they will release their own line made especially for the Apple iPhone.
The first software they have in their lineup is this software called ExpressDictate. With this software, iPhone users will be able to record and edit audio with nothing more than their phone using the NCH applications currently in development.
This is actually now available for a 14-day trial at their site.

Most mobile phones have taken a different route. Ideally, phones would integrate games with the standard mobile device we use today. But as far as Sony is concerned, it is the other way around. For their Sony PSP, a gadget that is familiar to us as a gaming device, rumors are flying around that it will be made as a mobile phone as well. Wise decision?
Some may like it while others may not. But it does make you wonder, bulky as the PSP may be, how would it fare compared to the slimmer and portable types such as the iPhone? Are we going to see a new PSP design soon?
If Sony is dead serious on this niche, well, one thing we can look forward to is the design outcome. We may soon see a slimmer and lighter PSP it all pushes through. But now, the next challenge awaits and a big question comes into mind; Is it worth turning a successful gadget into another niche where is may find itself crawling back to the top?
