05 Jul 09 Doom: Resurrection for the iPhone Released

People who loved playing Doom can now do so via their iPhones as Doom: Resurrection has been released by Escalation Studios. Similar to the classic game, the only difference now in game play is perhaps the changed from a first person view to an “On Rails” play format.

Movement is handled for you as you progress through the levels, but it’s your job to take on hell’s minions with an array of wickedly gruesome assault weapons.

The Doom: Resurrection game app is now available at the iTunes Musix Store for $9.99. It also supports the iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 2.2.1 or later.

30 Jun 09 Dance Praise for iPhones Now Available

Let your fingers do the tapping with this new iPhone app called Dance Praises. Dance Praises is a game which combines robust tapping to the music of top Christian tunes. The game is actually not a new one as it had already debuted for the PC and MAC in 2005. The said app is available at the Apple App Store for $4.99.

In Dance Praise, hit songs by Newsboys, tobyMac, Superchick, Audio Adrenaline and other Christian artists pulsate as players tap while following onscreen arrows. Lyrics appear in sync with the music while 3-D dancers boogie in the background. Each of the 15 songs offers four levels of play, from easy to expert. There are 60 different dances. Christian music tracks include Your Love is Better than Life by Newsboys, Dive by Steven Curtis Chapman, Made to Love by tobyMac, If We Are the Body by Casting Crowns, and more.

If you loved Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero, this is one tapping game you are going to love. Though Dance Praise caters to a different tune, the mechanics and game play are practically the same.

25 Mar 09 PDP Unveils GameTrak Freedom and SmartStylus Products

Gamers are bound to love these two new gadgets unveiled by Performance Designed Products (PDP) that will change the face of gaming. The 2 new devices are the GameTrak Freedom and SmartStylus.

Gametrak Freedom is a proprietary and patent-pending ultrasonic 3D motion sensing technology that delivers performance, increased control and flexibility. The system is comprised of a base unit, which attaches to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft via USB, and a hand-held controller.

Unlike other motion sensing gaming systems, Gametrak Freedom does not rely on the gamer pointing a controller at the screen, nor does it restrict the gamer to limited movements. The system accurately tracks the true 3D position and precise movements of up to four players anywhere within a given environment. This technology provides players with total control and unrivaled game play opportunities.

PDP also unveiled the new revolutionary wireless SmartStylus 1 and 2 devices for the Nintendo DS. The patent-pending SmartStylus™ 1 and 2 both feature a vibration feedback that players using the stylus will feel based on movements and commands in the game. The SmartStylus 2 can include a variety of added features, including LEDs, sound and motion feedback.

With the motion feedback capability, the stylus can now act as a motion input device, allowing you, for example, to hit a home run by swinging the stylus off the DS screen. The SmartStylus 1 will launch this fall and is pending licensing by Nintendo.

“The technologies offered by both the Gametrak Freedom™ and the SmartStylus™ tools are the first of their kind,” said John Moore, senior vice president of marketing for the California-based PDP. “PDP is excited to be introducing these new technologies. They will create a new level of gaming that can be enjoyed by the whole family.”
