UK iPhone users and BT Broadband customers listen up - around 2,500 ATM machines near you will soon be converted to function as free WiFi hotspots, thanks to BT Openzone and Cashbox. The initial rollout will begin with 10 machines this week and then numbers are expected to gradually increase.
“Some of our sites lend themselves to becoming hotspots more than others,” says Ciaran Morton, CEO of Cashbox. “It’s really just the start of our rollout. We will look at extending coverage over the coming months.” Non-BT and iPhone users that want to join in the fun and convenience will have to dish out £5.88 ($10) for 90 minutes or a more sensible £9.79 ($16) for 24 hours.

It’s not clear why it will happen but it looks like T-Mobile and Google are getting ready to offer an extra G1 battery pack to all G1 owners in about a month from now. T-Mobile is cooking up an extended battery project which will address customers complaints regarding the current battery status.
T-Mobile doesn’t have an official statement for this whole event but we should expect one in the future. G1 owners should be notified if they qualify for the free battery pack. Which brings me to my next question. Will all G1 owners get the free upgrade and if not what’s the criteria for getting one?

In case you’re a T-Mobile subscriber and like to play games on your cellphone, pay attention to their latest offer because it includes downloading games for free.
The reason behind the decision to offer games for free is pretty simple, and can be summed up in one word: advertisements. This means that before playing the game you’ll see one ad, and after the game is finished there is another one. At the moment the first game available for download is Poker Million II.
PS - Subscribers of the Web ‘n’ Walk service don’t even pay the download data.

Remember the Sony Ericsson TM506 which had its release date during the beginning of September? At that time, the cellphone cost $80 after rebates and signing a contract, but now it is a different story…
Almost 3 months passed and the TM506 went from $80 to free. Mostly due to Cyber Monday which was yesterday, because right now I can’t find the Sony Ericsson freebie at the T-Mobile website. But don’t worry, T-Mobile has other mobile phones available for free, just visit their shop and check the “Free” option on Price Range to get some results, like the Nokia 6263, Motorola RIZR Z3, or Samsung Beat.

Nokia issued a product advisory for the Nokia-branded BL-5C battery - one of the most standard batteries for its cell phones - manufactured by Matsushita Battery of Japan between December 2005 and November 2006. It seems that in rare cases, the battery may experience overheating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge.
The advisory applies to about 46 million batteries (of the more than 300 million BL-5C batteries, including those produced by other manufacturers) manufactured by Matsushita. At this time, there have been about 100 incidents of the overheating reported globally. Thankfully for Nokia, no serious injuries or proerty damage so far. Also, the issue does not affect any other use of the mobile phone.
If you are a concerned customer that doesn’t want an overheated, dislodging battery (who isn’t?) check the battery for a 26-character ID number printed on the battery and determine if it is one among those manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006, and you will get a free replacement battery.
