29 Jan 10 WAPI iPhones Coming to China

WAPI iPhones Chinese-based iPhones are practically the same with the authentic Apple iPhone only that they don’t have WiFi capability. However Foxconn may change all that soon when they release their new WAPI phones (WAPI is Chinese for WiFI) which they have codenamed N88.

Curiously, there is also a phone that has a codename of N90. While it is not confirmed, there is a possibility that this could be the much awaited iPhone 4G. Just like China Unicom which sold over 200,000 iPhones without WiFi, the demand for the WAPI-enabled iPhones are expected to soar if not surpass those figures.

15 Apr 09 RIM Looks for Partners for New BlackBerry Smartphones

What new Berries will RIM make? Well that depends on what partners it will find first. It looks like Research in Motion is looking for other partners to make BlackBerry smartphones. So far it has been working wit Elcoteq and Celestica but that’s not enough as demand for RIM phones has risen lately. During the last fiscal year the company has sold over 25 million phones and it will probably sell even more this year. A new name is Foxconn, the Taiwan-based company which is also working on the iPhone and other Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android handsets. Is Foxconn going to manufacture anything special for RIM?

04 Aug 08 800,000 iPhones 3G Per Week from Foxconn

August 22nd is the day when 20 more countries will receive the iPhone 3G. Apple is doing the best they can to increase iPhone production and thus to avoid future shortages. I don’t think they will be able to do it but it’s good to know they are trying. Foxconn, their manufacturer has production way up. At current speed they are producing no less than 800,000 iPhones 3G per week. This is above full capacity so we might expect possible failures in the future.
