I’ll lead right off today by saying that I love the Nokia X3, one of which the folks out at PureMobile sent my way. It’s a great phone with a whole lot of nifty options, but one unpleasant flaw–its design.
The Nokia X3 is a slider-style cell phone with an FM radio, clock, calendar, organizer, Internet access, access to the Nokia OVI store, size converter, temperature converter, currency converter, world clock, Flickr access, a collection of games, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a few more nifty things besides.
Like I said, this is a great phone with lots of options–the radio’s got some pretty good reach to it–but the design is one I don’t much care for. The radio scans for channels five hundredths of a frequency at a time. So if you want to tune from 99.3 to 99.8, you’ll have to go from 99.35 to 99.40 and so on until you get there. No scrolling, either–just one button press after another. The keypad also has some ridges between keys to separate them. I find they get in the way more than help.
But all things considered, the Nokia X3 is a great cell phone.
The Good
Lots of features
Good function
Good sound
Good camera
The Bad
Ham-fisted design
Frequency trolling on the radio is a kludge
Score 8 / 10

When you see iPod docks, they would normally be compact or portable. We have seen some iPod docks come out, each sporting some new design and added features but here is one that should really be a hit. The Lenco iPod Tower iPod dock is as it says. It is a towering iPod dock which stands up on the floor on its own similar to standing speakers we see in home theater setups. It has the usual features like a FM radio, SD card reader, aux inputs and LED displays. It has a 15W speaker and a subwoofer which should be a great new iPod dock to consider.
The Lenco iPod Tower iPod dock is scheduled to be released in the UK this January 2010 but no word if it will be available internationally. It will retail for £99.99.

People who own iPods or iPhones have had their share of worthy docking stations and speakers to help make some noise and share the tunes they have stored in them. But when you talk about quality, nothing beats Altec Lansing, a brand familiar for providing us with high quality audio complements.
And while Altec Lansing has a couple of docking stations in the market made for the iPods today, here is a new one in the Mix IMT800. It looks like a standard stereo component that was in use some years back which should really put an exclamation point towards quality audio sound rendering.
It features a universal dock, dome tweeters, two mid range drivers, a 5.25” side-firing subwoofer, 5.25” tuned passive radiator and an integrated digital FM radio. Like most iPod docks, it gives owners the choice of being powered up through the usual electric socket or through 8 D batteries. With the batteries, iPod owners can expect something portable as they share their tunes wherever they may choose to go.
The Altec Lansing MIX IMT800 is priced at $300.00.
