You’ve gotta love Finland. The country is probably the first one ready to guarantee 1Mbps broadband Internet connectivity to its citizens. That’s an impressive move coming from the Finnish government which should definitely be followed by others. Broadband access will become a human right at some point next year and in 2015 Finland is preparing to raise that number to 100Mbps. That means that Finland’s Internet infrastructure is definitely going to grow with the government supporting its development. So what do you say folks? Are you ready to move to Finland for a while?

The poor state of the economy isn’t good news for anyone, not even the world’s top cellphone maker Nokia. The Finland based company has recently announced that they have been forced to cut 490 positions bringing the total number of layoffs for this year alone over 4,000.
Nokia hopes that saying goodbye to these employees will help them reach their goal of cutting annual costs totaling almost $1 billion. With the cellphone market expected to shrink by 10% this year it’s probably in Nokia’s best interests to introduce such layoffs as unfortunate as it may be.

Finnish site, Verkkokauppa, has started selling the Nokia N78 in Finland online. This all-rounder will be available for 367 euros sans taxes (448 euros with taxes if you want to know). Customers will also get one year’s worth of subscription to Nokia Maps for the Nordic region to go along with its integrated aGPS. I don’t want to go over the specs again, but a 3.2 Carl Zeiss megapixel camera, HSDPA and WLAN are just the tip of a techberg. Go here for the complete specifications. Now that it’s released in Finland, the wait won’t be that long until the N78 finds its way into other markets.
