All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Verizon is certainly not too happy about the fact that the Pre and the iPhone 3GS are taking all the headlines these days. And I’m not sure if Big Red has anything hot enough to offer its customers. How many Verizon customers will switch to Sprint or AT&T?

Just in case you don’t want to switch carriers you should be aware of the fact that Verizon has a couple of new phones available for you, the Casio Exilim and the Motorola Rival A455.

The Casio Exilim is a phone made for the photographer in you. It comes with a 180-degree rotating display and a 5.1 megapixel although Verizon you should know there are some phones out there capable of taking 8 megapixel pictures which would suit better to passionate photographers. Although this Casio Exilim will come with camera-like features that other phones lack

Here are some of the most important features:

  • 5.1 megapixel auto focus camera with flash, lots of photo related features and video recording
  • 180–degree rotating display
  • optical 3x zoom
  • resistant to water, humidity, salt-fog, shock, vibration, dust, solar radiation, altitude, temperature.
  • bluetooth
  • up to 8GB microSD memory
  • music and video playing capabilities
  • V CAST Music with Rhapsody (Subscription, Wireless and PC Downloads)
  • V CAST Videos
  • GPS
  • 2.3-inch 65K TFT Color

The phone is available right away online and you’ll have to pay for it $279.99 after a $50 instant rebate and with a two-year contract. Hmmm, so you’re telling me that for $199 I could get a new phone with some photo features, bigger screen and lots of apps?

Nothing showcases a mobile phone and its features better than a saucy video with a curvaceous babe cradling it in a shower, or so thinks Verizon as that’s exactly the situation we caught the upcoming Casio Exilim C721 in.  If you care to watch the promo video (and I know you will) after the break, you can see the lady demonstrating its waterproof casing and its 5-megapixel camera to snap some pretty interesting pictures for her lucky boyfriend.  Seems like that’s about all you can do with the cell phone while bathing as we still have no idea what else the C721 is capable of until Verizon or Casio deems us fit to let us in the loop. Keep reading to watch the video…

Verizon will launch the new Casio Exilim phone at some time in the future, but until that happens we are left with these leaked photos of the device. A blog from South Korea managed to get them and launch them for everyone to enjoy.

As for specs we already know what the FCC documents say about the device. It will support dual band CDMA, EV-DO Rev. A and Bluetooth connectivity. It will come with a 5.1MP camera, an unconfirmed 3x optical zoom and a WVGA screen. Need more details? We’d like to have an arrival date and a price. Anyone care to leak?

Casio has unveiled its newest mobile phone for the Japanese KDDI network — the W61CA waterproof EXILIM mobile phone. The W61CA is a waterproof clamshell type phone boasting a 5.1 megapixel camera using the Casio EXILIM technology. Being waterproof means it’s designed for the people with active lifestyle in mind. And hence, it also features calorie consumption calculation as well as details of elapsed time and distance traveled. As an added bonus, the anime character, “Adelie penguin” is featured on the phone’s standby screen. The Casio W61CA features a 2.7-inch QVGA LCD, a microSD card slot of up to 2GB, high-speed infrared connection, and Japanese-English dictionary among others. The Casio W61CA will come in Mode Green, Couture Gold, Esprit Yellow, and Robe White.
