Verizon has today announced that their Escapade handset is set to launch both in-store and online tomorrow for $29.99 on contract.
As you can see, this device doesn’t have a touchscreen, it doesn’t have a full QWERTY keyboard and it doesn’t even have EV-DO, UMTS or EDGE data capabilities However, it does offer voice and text support for over “220 destinations worldwide” and that’s what Verizon is focusing on.
Other features include a 2MP camera, Bluetooth, voice commands and VZ Navigator. If you’re looking for a cheap handset that you can travel with, this may be it.

Pantech and Verizon are about to launch a new world phone, the Escapade which is supposedly coming on August 21. The phone will work both on Verizon’s CDMA network and on other GSM networks which means you can take it with you at all times, no matter where you decide to travel to. The phone will not impress you with specs as it comes with a measly 2-megapixel shooter and GPS. We will be waiting for a price tag and more consistent information on the Escapade and we will keep you updated.

Verizon’s Pantech Escapade phone is not available yet but it made an appearance for the camera. The Escapade is a simple flip phone that will offer you CDMA/GSM and GPRS connectivity, microSD support, a 2-megapixel camera and a 2.5mm headset jack. That’s pretty much what you can expect from the Escapade and since it’s an entry-level phone you can also expect it to be available for free with a contract. Anyone really interested in the Escapade?
