Samsung 820SC and M130L Mobile Phones

It’s nearing the end of 2007, but the folks over at the FCC do not take a lot of rest. Approved among the day’s lot were two Samsung phones: the Samsung 820SC Mobile Phone and the Samsung M130L Phone. The 820SC phone is described as a GSM/EDGE phone with Bluetooth capabilities, while the M130L seems to be an entry-level phone with only GSM/GPRS support. The M130L works in the 850/1900MHz GSM bands, and also features Bluetooth.

As usual, stringent confidentiality restrictions are in place, so there are no photos to gawk at. Check back with us later for more info on pricing and availability.

  • RakuRaku cell phone from FujitsuI love the new cell phone names. There was the Samsung Blast, and now Fujitsu has the new RakuRaku (which, of course, means easy in Japanese). One of the entry-level phones out there that boasts of GPS capabilities, noise reduction technology for clear conversations and a camera on-board.

Cool features include an image correction algo that ensures sharp images all the time. You can also compose emails using icons and drawings although it’s not clear how. It’s a nice looking flip phone, and when closed, is about 17.6 mm thick.

Oh, and it’s also available in pink. Check back with us for more details - like when it will hit the markets and how much it’ll be priced at.

Garmin nuvi 260 GPS Speaks Street Names

    Garmin nuvi 260 GPS

Garmin unveiled a much-needed affordable GPS device in the nuvi 200 series. The new Garmin nuvi 260 is capable of calling out street names instead of giving never-really-approximate distances. For example, instead of saying “turn right in 100 feet” you get to hear the street name instead. While this feature is already available in several premium GPS devices, the nuvi 260 appears to be the only budget GPS device to offer this useful feature.

The Garmin nuvi 260 comes in a thinner form factor and is apparently easier to mount on the car. As usual, the home screen lets you enter a destination or search a category. If you miss a turn, the nuvi 260 recalculates an alternate route - again telling you the street names. With over six million points of interest and maps of the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, the 260 is a useful addition. Other goodies on-board this GPS device include an image viewer, calculator, currency converter, world clock and unit converter.

The nuvi 260 also comes with the Garmin Lock, a theft prevention system for the GPS. A 4-digit PIN controls the functionality. In addition, you can also use preloaded maps with customized POIs, including school zones and areas with safety cameras. The GPS comes with a 3.5″ touchscreen. For additional memory, it supports SD memory cards.

Expected in August 2007, the Garmin nuvi 260 retails for US $499.99. Packaging includes a vehicle suctino cup mount, power cable, dashboard disk and manual.

  • BenQ T33, T51 and E72 Cell Phones

    BenQ T33, T51 Cell Phones

BenQ unveiled three new cell phones targeted at the China market. The BenQ E72, T55 and T33 are the three amigos, with the E72 available in a candy-bar form factor. The cameras come with a 2 megapixel camera, and support the Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) for enjoying stereo music wirelessly. They also come with microSD memory card support.

The T51 is available in a flip design and comes in a highly compact form factor that fits in the palm of your hand. The front of the device, when closed, has music control keys for play/pause, next/previous track and volume controls are available on the side. The T33 on the other hand comes in a slider design. The answer/reject (green/red) buttons on the T33 look a bit weird, like the phone’s eyes or something because of their shape. Photos at a max resolution of 1600×1200 can be taken with these camera phones.

No word on the pricing or availability.
