FCC has approved the Samsung SGH-T459 Cellular/PCS GSM/EDGE Phone along with Bluetooth. It supports Bluetooth Edition 2.0 with improved data rates. The Samsung SGH device is powered from the Solar LISN, which are filtered by a high-current high-insertion loss Ray Proof power line filter. The filter can attenuate ambient signal interference and is also connected to the Shielded enclosure. The latest Samsung SGH Phone with Bluetooth supports 3 –meter test range using Roberts™ Dipole antennas or horn antennas. The antennas of the Samsung 850/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone with Bluetooth are attached permanently. It doesn’t need any eternal antenna.

LG’s new phone, the KC550, has got the FCC’s seal of approval. From the very sparse documentation available - as with all LG phones, because they like to keep things confidential (including photos - I mean, come on guys, who in this day and age keeps photos confidential?!) - the KC550 is a GSM/EDGE phone, which basically means there’s no 3G/HSDPA support on this baby.
The KC550 also features Bluetooth support. Since the device has been granted approval only recently, there is no word on the availability or pricing yet. Check back with us on that one.

AT&T announced that the new BlackBerry 8820 Wi-Fi mobile phone will be available to its customers starting September 20. The BlackBerry 8820 lets you not only connect to your corporate or home network but also take advantage of 10,000 AT&T-owned or branded Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the U.S. (which requires an additional fee, of course). The BlackBerry 8820 supports WLAN 802.11 a/b/g and features enterprise-level security. Garmin, now the #1 personal navigation device seller in the US, announced two new devices in its Onto Fitness series for cyclists. The Garmin Edge 705 (left) and Edge 605 (right) both feature a 2.2″ color screen and offer turn-by-turn directions. The usual add-ons include detailed street maps and topography of the region. Both devices can display climb/descent, altitude, speed, distance and time. With the recent Garmin ANT+Sport technology incorporated into the Edge navigation devices, they can seamlessly interface with other fitness devices such as a heart rate monitor or even other Edge units. This lets cyclists share courses, workout data and saved rides.
The Edge 705 improves upon the 605 by incorporating a barometric altimeter to accurately record altitude data, letting cyclists match their altitude profile with their speed/heart rate for a etter post-ride analysis. It also features a heart rate monitor that uses new wireless technology to eliminate cross talk and interference and delivers real-time heart rate data onto the user’s device.
By pairing your Garmin Edge 605 or 705 with Garmin Connect, an online training site, you can network with other cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts, log their workouts and share yours.
The Edge 605 carries a price tag of US $399.99 while the Edge 705 starts from US $499.99. Add on a heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor to bring it to US $549.99. Throw in an ANT+Sport bundle for $649.99. Everything will be available in December 2007.

A new Nokia cell phone was approved recently by the almighty FCC. While no details were made available (Nokia had requested short term confidentiality), it appears to be a Nokia 661X series device - at least from the FCC label anyway.
The only information available as of this writing is that it is a GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz quad-band phone that also supports WCDMA, and is compatible with EGPRS and GPRS. Bluetooth is also available on the phone. The phone also supports a micro-USB data cable for data sync.
As usual, no word on the pricing or availability of this phone, but thanks to the FCC seal, it should be on its way soon.
