Nokia has announced the numbers for the second quarter of the year and they don’t look very good. Nokia has sold 103.2 million handsets in Q2 which is 11% better than in Q1. As for the global market share, Nokia still holds an impressive 38% in Q2 which is 1% better than in Q1. And you’d expect Nokia’s profits to be up too right? Well that’s not what happened folks! Are you ready for this? Nokia’s operating profit for Q2 was of just 775 million Euros. That sounds like a lot but that’s 66% less than last year. Net sales dropped 25% in Q2 compared to last year which amounts to 9.9 billion Euros.
The hottest Nokia phones were the 5800 and the E71. The 5800 XpressMusic sold in 3.7 million units in Q2 while the E71 sold in 5 million units since it was launched.
What is Nokia expecting for the third quarter? Well the company will maintain its market share but it also expects device volumes to decline by 10% from 2008 levels. We’ll be waiting to see similar reports from the other big names in the industry. Is any manufacturer doing better than in 2008?

If $699 is too much for Nokia’s flagship phone, then how does $599 sound? Amazon is currently selling the N97 for that price which is 14% less than the regular price. The phone will be shipped for free straight to your home and all you’ll have to do is decide what carrier to choose after purchasing the N97. Currently this is the lowest available price as no carrier has decided to offer this impressive smartphone for a subsidized price and Nokia isn’t running any sale today. Considering that Amazon has already dropped the price on the N97 we should assume that other hot Nokia phones like the E71 or the 5800 XpressMusic will have better prices soon so your favorite Nokia phone will be available for a cheaper price.

You thought that the E71 was a hot Nokia phone? Well apparently Nokia has a follower en route. The E72 is said follower and it appears it has been already posted and removed from YouTube. The phone will come with features like a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, an optical trackpad, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Symbian S60 FP2 for OS. We have no idea when the E72 is actually coming and how much it will cost but we’ll be waiting close by for this one.

In case you’re looking to purchase a new piece of jewelry then you could consider this beautiful Nokia E71 that has diamonds all over it. Nokia’s E71 is one of the best phones the Finish maker has produced last year and it looks even better with all those stones on it. Unfortunately the phone’s price doesn’t look as good. The phone will be sold for around $9,546, but if you have that spare cash laying around for no reason, you’ll have no problem getting it.

If you thought the Nokia E71 (or even the E71x) deserved a business suit every time you had to carry around, pretty soon, the addition of a 5-megapixel lens on this work-oriented smartphone will definitely change your mindset. Dubbed the E71i this time, this Nokia device will get a much-needed bump up to a 5mpx lens from the 3.2 megapixel shooter that the current versions have, in turn bringing in more consumers who had previously stayed away from the E71 for the sole reason of an under-powered camera. We have already seen many 8mpx and 12 mpx cameraphones, but with a 5-megapixel lens, Nokia isn’t jumping too high and ends up maintaining the dignity that Eseries devices demand. The Symbian OS will also be updated to Feature Pack 2, just like the E71x released recently, and the handset will be available only in shades of mocha brown. Rumors point to a E71i release as early as September with the Nokia World event scheduled for the same month or as late as October, so stay tuned and we will get more on this as it transpires.

A new Nokia phone is heading to Verizon Wireless but details about it are very limited right now. According to secret sources the new handset has a swivel mechanism and resembles the E71, which is one of the best phones Nokia launched last year. Will the swivel version be just as good or way better?
Verizon is supposed to launch it this summer, sometime in July or August so we’re waiting for all the hot specs by then. What we do know is that this QWERTY Nokia phone will be running Symbian S40 and not S60. What do you think?

A new Nokia smartphone will be found in AT&T stores starting with March 24 almost as previously expected. The E71/E71x will be sold for $199 with a 2-year contract. The phone will arrive in black from AT&T and you should go to Nokia stores if you want it in a different color. While the E71 is a great smartphone, is it worth investing $199 in it considering that better smartphones are going to arrive shortly?

The phone that many a businessman had been hoping for is not too far off in the future, as it is scheduled to invade AT&T’s lineup this coming April 1st, just as the leaked inventory we saw last week promised. This loaded smartphone has every feature that a corporate honcho could ask for. With support for 3G/HSDPA/EDGE network speeds, the E71 also boasts of various other connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS for navigation. There’s a full QWERTY keypad for easy emailing and a 3.2 megapixel camera for that occasional urge to capture something.
Now that the AT&T E71 release is confirmed, will the same hold true for the other release dates leaked as well? Will we finally be able to find out just what the heck Jackfrost is on March 29th?

The Nokia E71 which was recently added to the BestBuy catalog in an unlocked version, has received a firmware update for the US and is currently on version 110.07.127.
On top of a a couple of bug fixes that are suppose to make the Nokia handset more stable, the updates are related to:
- Nokia email
- Nokia maps
- Mail For Exchange
The European firmware update to Nokia E71 happened a few weeks ago, meaning the US version got a bit delayed. Next time it could be released sooner instead of having a few weeks of difference, don’t you think?

The Nokia E63 has just been announced by Nokia. Deja-vu feeling coming yet? Yes sure it’s similar in design to the E71 but it’s something totally new.
If you don’t want a BlackBerry to play with but you’d like that BlackBerry feeling, then you absolutely need an E series smartphone. The E63 sports the same full QWERTY keyboard which provides that full support for your SMS and email needs. The E63 will be available soon and it will cost just 199 Euro before future subsidies and of course, taxes.
Soren Petersen, Senior Vice President of Nokia says:
Our research shows that people want a device that deals with both their personal and professional lives, but helps them to separate the two. When someone sits down at lunch, they want to update their social network or browse their personal email account and they don’t want work getting in the way of that. It’s another great case of technology adapting to the people that use it. The Nokia E63 is a new proposition for Eseries - a messaging device where people will be just as involved in their social network as they are in their business network.
Let’s look at the specs now. There’s WiFi support, fast access to Mail for Exchange, support for Files on Ovi and access to 1GB of online file storage for free. Nokia Music Store comes also with the E63 and there’s a 3.5 mm audio jack for your musical pleasure. The built-in camera will get you lots of photos and videos to share with your friends.
Want more? More specs and a release date? Well stick with us ’cause we do to, and we will surely find out more!

Eleven days ago we talked about the Nokia N96 being available for purchase at BestBuy stores, for $900 with a 2-year contract and unlocked. A good deal? You decide, but it seems like a good bargain.
If you are interested in other unlocked Nokia cellphones besides the N96, there are some good news because Best Buy added the Nokia E71 and N95 models to their catalog. In case of the N95, it is the 8GB version.
As for the prices, they are exclusive for people that sign a 2-year contract with T-Mobile: E71 goes for $460, while the N95 is priced at $700.

The November 2008 issue of WIRED magazine - the test issue - awarded top scores to the Nokia E71 as the Test Best Cell Phone. Designed for messaging, navigation and other top multimedia features, the E71 scored 9/10. WIRED editors called it a road warrior on the ball - without being too much of a business phone.
The E71 features two screens - one that places all your work related apps together (including Excel and PowerPoint), and another for your entertainment - audio/video and gaming. A dedicated button lets you switch between the two screens. The slimmest QWERTY phone also features 3G, HSDPA and WLAN support, Nokia Maps with A-GPS and a browser with Flash support.
