Back in February, Nokia took the time to announce their E55 smartphone but other than a few color scheme announcements, we haven’t heard much of the device since.
Today, it was noted that the E55 has made its way through the FCC effectively confirming its impending release for the US market. Then again, as Engadget Mobile points out, the above pictured device will only be able to run on the EDGE network with no 3G capabilities. Perhaps Nokia will update the phone before it actually hits the market to include said connectivity.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve never been a fan of the two-keys-per-button keyboard format. If I had to choose, I think I’d go with this device’s big brother the Nokia E72, but that’s just me.

The Nokia E55 appeared at MWC and it only came in two color versions, black and white. If that’s too boring for you then why not pick an E55 in red. That’s right, Nokia will offer it in red too. That seems like a logical color since all the other E-series handsets also come in red. There’s a red E71, a red E75 and a red E63. Now that you have all the facts then you should also know that the E55 should be available in the second quarter and it will sell for around $336.

Besides the E75 which we have just shown you Nokia launched a new E-series smartphone, the E55. Like the E75 this one will enhance your communication abilities. With the E55 you will be able to stay connected with your friends at all times. It also has the company’s new email user interface and Nokia Messaging. And the E55 has also a QWERTY keyboard, but this one is a compact version. The phone will be available from 265 Euros later this summer and it will come in black and white aluminum.
As for the other specs, here they are:
What is it going to be? E75 or E55?
