All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

The UK mobile service provider Geodesa Limited announced a new product, the GeoSIM Dual IMSI SIM card. This GeoSIM will get you two local phone numbers, one U.S. and one UK number, on a single SIM. That means cheaper communication in these two regions as you won’t be paying any roaming surcharges.

We are really excited about this ‘market shaking product’ which is generating a great deal of interest from customers and resellers already. In the past, travelers roaming on a U.S. network have had to pay for incoming calls on their mobiles and paid higher charges for making calls. From mid April, all that will change when we roll out GeoSIM Dual IMSI. The USA will effectively become part of Europe in terms of the GeoSIM call rates and free incoming calls. GeoSIM customers will be able to call and receive at the current rates available in Europe or the US no matter which side of the Atlantic they are on.

The GeoSIM Dual IMSI SIM card will arrive later in April so we’ll have more details for you by then.

Dual Touchscreen Laptop from V12

I am no designer or artist to actually need a tablet PC, but if this dual touchscreen laptop gets real anytime soon, I’d sure love to take one home. We would be a perfect fit.

V12 Design is an Italian design agency which apparently developed this concept over four years ago. If that’s all true, how come no one managed to actually create it?

The prototype in the picture is called Canova and it was “developed for creative types”. It was made of stainless steel and carbon fiber. And here’s the interesting part. V12 is working with a US manufacturer for the second generation of the Canova. This laptop is coming in about 16 months and I am sure it will be a fantastic PC

There’s going to be multi touch input, a haptic feedback keyboard, a built in microphone for voice recognition and probably much more.

The only question is who’s going to release it? What’s the US manufacturer involved? Remember Computex 2008? Asus had a similar prototype displayed. Are we in for a race to the first dual multi touchscreen laptop?

Qsida is proposing a dual mode and WiMAX handset. The prototype doesn’t have a name yet but what’s in a name after all. This phone will support regular GSM/GPR/EDGE , 802.16e WiMAX and WiFi. Hooray for all that, when can we get one? How much does it cost? Can we have a bigger screen there? Is it a touchscreen>

Dual has unveiled a whole line of automobile head units lead by the two products, XDVDN8190 and XDVDN8290.

“Today’s automotive environment can be the center of entertainment and communications,” said Robb Groner, Vice President of Product Development, Dual Electronics Corp. “People are comfortable with Bluetooth phones, iPods and DVDs, and navigation systems are fast becoming necessity for anyone behind the wheel. With our new line of multimedia head units, we set out to create a variety of models that bring these functions together, in a way that’s simple to operate, and very accessible for the mass market consumer.”

The two units are being prided as systems which could rival their costly factory-installed counterparts. XDVDN8190 is single-DIN and 240 watts while XDVDN8290 is double-DIN and 300 watts. Both are expected to retail at USD$1,199. The former features a 7-inch LCD touchscreen while the latter’s LCD measures 6.5-inches. They both feature Bluetooth connectivity, audio and video playback, GPS navigation, as well as an interface for iPod controls which also displays the tracks’ metadata. The units have built-in microphone for taking calls hands-free while the LCDs can display the called information.
