  • We’ve talked about the HTC Magic and about Huawei’s non-working prototype, both Android handsets shown at the MWC. Now it’s time for the DSTL1 which is General Mobile’s Android smartphone.

And the DSTL1 is a dual-SIM phone ready to impress us. It has a WQVGA screen, a 5 megapixels AF camera, 4GB of internal storage upgradeable via microSD and on-board FM. What won’t impress you is the lack of 3G connectivity. The DSTL1 will only be available in two tri-band EDGE versions. Still waiting on release dates and pricing. What do you think? Will it be a hit?

    Samsung B5702 Dual-SIM Phone

Samsung has a new dual-SIM phone ready for those in need of using simultaneously two SIM cards. It’s the B5702, a slider phone which won’t bring you all those high-end features you might be expecting. For now we know it won’t have a touchscreen and we think those LEDs above the screen might tell us what SIM card we’re using. The B5702 will probably be launched at the MWC 2009 so we’ll bring you more detailed updates on it in about two weeks.

Check this phone out. Does it look like an Android-based phone or what? I mean sure, the G1 is good looking, but it could do so much better in terms of design. General Mobile stepped up to the task and created this DSTL1 which is supposed to be a dual SIM handset running on Android.

The smartphone might be launched at MWC later next month and it will sport a 3-inch TFT touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 4GB of built-in storage space, WiFi and a 624MHz Marvell processor. The phone should be available later in Q3 so until then we might see more detailed pictures and features of the DSTL1.

LG is making significant progress in the cell phone business. It has just announced its first dual-SIM handset, the KS660. It will feature a 3 inch touchscreen WQVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and video recording, tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, 50MB of memory space upgradeable via microSDHC and an accelerometer to play with. This dual-SIM device has sacrificed the 3G and WiFi connectivity options but we might get those in future versions.

The KS660 will arrive in China, Russia and a few of its neighbors in Q1 2009 for. Other countries? We’ll just have to wait and see. And we also need a price for it.

  • This Samsung isn’t the first dual SIM phone we’ve seen from this manufacturer. But it’s the latest one. It has a weird name for my taste, the D9402 DuoS, but that’s not that important anyway. The handset is made out of premium materials like scratch resistant display glass and metal frame covered with rodium. Rodium is a form of resistant platinum which will withstand various chemical or mechanical damages. It comes equipped with Bang & Olufsen / ICEPower amplifier to improve the sound quality of the speakers. Besides all that, we have more specs for you:

    • Triband GSM (900/1800/1900 Mhz), GPRS/EDGE connectivity on 1st SIM card
    • Dual band (900/1800 Mhz), GPRS/EDGE connectivity on 2nd SIM card
    • 2 inch 262K color QVGA AMOLED display
    • 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabilization, smile detection, WDR and LED flash
    • FM Radio with RDS
    • 1 GB of built-in memory
    • microSDHC memory card slot (up to 8 GB)
    • Bluetooth 2.0 and USB
    • 960 mAh battery
    • Dimensions: 115 x 48 x 16 mm
    • Weight: 140 g

We only need a release date and a price now. And maybe just a little bit of 3G support. Since it’s a dual SIM card phone it must mean you are a heavy cell phone user and you need 3G like crazy!

Apart from the lack of 3G, the specs and features of Samsung S9402 look pretty impressive for a luxury phone.

And you can expect a pretty impressive price tag for Samsung S940 DuoS too, when a handset is launched officially.

Remember the Samsung D980 that we talked about in July and was released in China? The cellphone will also become available in Russia in the upcoming weeks, but so far there is no information about the price. One of the best features on the D980 is the Dual-SIM functionality, which basically means it supports 2 SIM cards at the same time.

The upcoming (in Russia) Samsung cellphone has a 2.6-inch touchscreen with 240×320 pixels as the resolution, and includes a stylus so you can easily use the TouchWiz interface. Although it doesn’t support 3G, it is compatible with 900/1800/1900MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE bands.
