The Palm Pixi has been launched officially this Sunday and Sprint customers can get it for $99.99 after rebates and with a 2-year new contract. But other retailers, like Amazon, are ready to offer the smartphone for a lot less. Amazon is going to sell the Pixi for just $25 but you will still have to get a new contract from Sprint.

So should you buy the Pixi now? Why not wait a while as I am sure the phone will be available for free on contract real soon. After all there are hotter phones out there worth purchasing with new contracts like the HTC Hero, the Motorola Droid, the BlackBerry Storm2, the HTC Droid Eris or the Samsung Behold II. What phone are you going to purchase these holidays?

Motorola has a hot phone for Chinese customers too. The MT710 is a handset meant to deal with China Mobile’s Android-based Open Mobile Systen. This OPhone will offer a 3.7-inch 854 x 480 touchscreen display and TD-SDCDMA support and that’s about all we know about this Motorola OPhone. It looks like the MT710 is the Chinese version of the Droid and people say it’s going to lack keyboard support. They also say that Motorola will launch seven Android phones next year which means that the Droid-like MT710 is just the first one of them.

  • HTC Passion Spotted in the Wild?

There’s no official arrival date mentioned by HTC but it looks like the Passion has been already been spotted out in the wild. The Passion aka the Dragon is HTC’s next Android phone and from what we know so far the device is going to be really impressive. The Passion will make us forget the Hero and it will probably go head to head against the Droid easily. From what we can see in the leaked picture the Passion comes with HTC’s Sense UI on top of Android. Other rumored specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera and Android 2.0. What do you say? Are you interested in the Passion already?

  • What do you know, Canadians, the Droid is ready to come your way soon. The phone will be known as the Milestone which seems to be the name Motorola has decided to stick with when it comes to the rest of the world. The Milestone has already been spotted in Germany and Brazil so it’s safe to say that only Verizon will sell it as the Droid in the USA.

Telus is said to bring the Milestone to Canadian customers early next year but there are no dates available at this point. There are no price tags either yet so we will all have to wait for the official press release before we get excited.

  • The Droid and the Droid Eris have been available for almost five days now and from the looks of it the phones are already bringing in some serious cash. The most popular of the both is definitely the Motorola Droid and you must surely agree that the Droid is an exceptional Android machine.

But neither of them is perfect. In fact there are quite a few issues that need to be fixed so both the Droid and the Droid Eris will receive an update in the near future. And it’s not customers complaining about the phones but it’s Verizon. The carrier has already found various things that need attention and it has leaked no less than twelve pages filled with complaints (five for the Droid and seven for the Droid Eris.) Everything will be sorted out by two firmware updates that are supposed to arrive in December and January. We don’t have any exact dates for you so in the mean time feel free to tell us what’s wrong with the Droid from your point of view.

    Is the iPhone a Misfit?

Verizon has taken the first jab at the iPhone calling it a misfit. Well technically that is as it unveiled its new commercial to jack up the Holiday season promotions for its Motorola Droid phones. Making use of the “Misfits Toys” from the classic Christmas animation Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer, Verizon has added the iPhone to the list of misfits to leverage some publicity. Will Apple throw a second jab? Wait and see! Here is the commercial:

Moto DROID at Sears for $149.99

The Motorola DROID is undoubtedly one of Verizon’s hottest (if not the hottest) handsets as of late. However, it’s $200 price tag may put it just out of reach for some consumers.

Luckily, Sears has stepped in to give us the phone for $149.99 on a 2-year contract as opposed to Verizon’s price.

So, if you want the DROID, you may as well head over to your local Sears instead of your local Verizon store, right?

If you checked out Google today (statistics say you probably have) then you may have noticed that the company is doing something out of the norm.

Just what you say? Well check out the above image and you’ll notice that they are advertising the recently launched Motorola DROID right on the front page.

I’m sure Verizon will be reaping the benefits of this.

Those who have been waiting to purchase Motorola’s DROID for Verizon can wait no longer as it has just been put up for sale. The Android 2.0, 5mp camera touting DROID will set you back $299.99 with a 2-year contract.

Additionally, those looking to spend a bit less can pick up the HTC developed DROID Eris for $99.99 with a 2-year contract.

Will this duo of devices stack up against AT&T/Apple’s iPhone? Let’s wait and find out.

You can purchase the DROID here, and the DROID Eris here.

Before you read on please make note that this is only a rumor and has not been confirmed in any way shape or form — BGR brings us news that AT&T and Apple are pondering whether or not to launch an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $99 that would be presumably replace the current $99 iPhone 3G.

Like I said, there isn’t very much evidence to back this up but if this goes down it would reportedly be a move to combat the DROID handsets popping up on Verizon.

The Xperia X10 is the rumored Rachael we’ve been waiting for. The phone has been properly unveiled and now we know that Sony Ericsson plans to release quite a bunch of new phones in 2010. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be the flagship phone and it will be released in Q1 2010 for an undisclosed price.

The smartphone comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android Donut inside, a 4-inch touchscreen display, a 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus and video recording, 3G support, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 3.5mm jack, 8GB microSD card and a custom UI similar to MOTOBLUR or Sense UI. Features like Sony Ericsson’s Timescape and Mediascape will be able to offer you an impressive experience as they offer an added UI on top of Android OS. While Mediascape deals with all the media files you’ll have on the phone, Timescape keeps track of all communication between you and any of your contacts. Social networking integration is also available as there’s support for Twitter and Facebook inside Timescape.

What do you say? Droid or Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 aka Rachael?

Just a few days ago we’ve shown you the GSM version of the Motorola Droid without actually knowing what market was going to get it first. Today we have some great news for your folks. If you live in Germany then you’ll be happy to know that the Droid is coming to you. The Droid will be coming from O2 Germany and it will be called the Motorola Milestone. The phone will be available for around $595 before taxes and subsidies. We have no release dates but we should expect the Milestone to hit O2 stores sometime before Christmas. O2 is the first carrier to offer the GSM version of the Droid so we’re definitely interested to see who’s going to follow.

The official numbers are in and the mobile business look to be improving. 290.5 million cell phones have been sold in Q3 which is 5.6% more than Q2 2009. Furthermore analysts predict that the final quarter of 2009 will see a year-to-year improvement. Q4 2009 mobile phone sales should amount to 300 million handset which would be 3% more than in Q4 2008.

Atop the mobile business Nokia is still the leader with 37.3% market share. Samsung follows with 20.7% while LG is far behind on third position with 10.9%. Sony Ericsson and Motorola have swapped places with Moto closing the top five at 4.7% market share. Sony Ericsson is probably going to lose fourth place soon as it only surpassed Motorola by 0.2% which translates into 0.5 million units. Do you think Verizon can sell that many Droids in the following months?

    Sony Ericsson Rachael Video Leaks

Next Tuesday Sony Ericsson is going to launch its first Android device, the Xperia X3 aka Rachael. Although most people are busy pre-ordering the Droid from Verizon, they should really stop and see what this Rachael phone is all about. The teaser above has been officially leaked and the handset looks pretty interesting. Sure 20 seconds of video featuring a turned-off device isn’t enough for us, is it? But at least we know the Rachael looks better than expected. All we need now are some decent specs and a matching personality and we might just have a Droid competitor on our hands!

November 6 is the day when the Droid will be available in Verizon Stores. In case you want to avoid hassles and lines, you can always pre-order the Droid from Best Buy. But if you’re decided to walk into an actual Verizon Wireless store and get your Droid from there then you should know that Big Red plans to open stores at 6AM on November 6. The hour is not confirmed yet but we expect Verizon to take all the measures necessary in order to accommodate as many customers as possible next Friday. So what do you say, are you ready for an early start?

And don’t forget, the Droid Eris will also be available on Friday. You’ll actually have to get this phone from a Verizon store since it’s not available for pre-order.

Before you buy your Motorola Droid phone you should know everything there is to know about it. For example did you know that accessories like the car kit and the dock aren’t included in the package? In fact each one will cost you an extra $29.99. The car kit will be known as the Phone Holder for DROID while the dock will be called the Multimedia Station for DROID. Both accessories will be available next Friday when the Droid becomes available. That means the price for the Droid has gone up by $60. I assume that you want to take advantage of Google’s new GPS application properly or use the Droid for watching videos in a comfortable position, don’t you? Then you do need these two toys too! So what do you think? Are you ready to purchase the Droid and its upcoming accessories?

We did tell you that the Nuvifone G60, launched by Garmin Asus a lot later than supposed to, was too expensive than it should be. And it looks like Amazon tends to agree with that. Amazon hasn’t been selling that many G60 units so far and thus it has decided to offer a $200 discount on the G60. The phone is available now for just $100 but would you really buy it? The Droid is in the house and it costs only $199.99 while the Droid Eris is going to be available for $99.99.

  • The HTC Hero will soon fade away from our minds as the Motorola Droid will be the hottest phone in town. But that doesn’t mean that HTC will let that happen without a fight. The company has confirmed that Android 2.0 will be coming soon to HTC Hero owners. Here’s what HTC had to say:

Yes, we are working on an Eclair update for the HTC Hero. Because Eclair is a significantly enhanced release, it will require some time to update Sense for this new version of the Android OS. Please be patient while we work to provide you with a tightly integrated experience like the one you are already enjoying on your Hero.

That magic HTC Sense UI is also going to be ported to Android 2.0 in the near future and all the Hero versions out there will get it. Just check back with your carrier for more information once Eclair becomes available from HTC.

The HTC Droid Eris is the other hot Android phone coming from Verizon. And Verizon seems to like Android all of a sudden as it is ready to offer them both at once, starting with November 6. So how much will the Droid Eris cost? If you’re willing to get a new 2-year Verizon Wireless contract then you’re going to get the HTC Droid Eris for just $99.99.

It looks like this HTC Android phone is going to be the cheapest phone ready to hit the U.S. so stay tuned for official confirmation. Although it’s understandable if you’re going to go for the Motorola Droid instead, the Droid Eris is perfect for those of you that have a budget to watch.
